Collaborative project-based learning in global health: Enhancing competencies and skills for undergraduate nursing students

Abstract
Background
Despite
the
importance
of
collaboration
and
communication
in
global
health,
existing
educational
approaches
often
rely
on
traditional
one-way
instruction
from
instructor
to
student.
Therefore,
this
study
aimed
evaluate
effectiveness
a
newly
developed
undergraduate
curriculum
health
enhancing
nursing
students’
competencies
communication,
problem-solving,
self-directed
learning
skills.
Methods
A
15-week
course
“Global
Health
Nursing”
was
designed
for
students,
collaborative
project-based
method
used.
Study
participants
were
students
enrolled
course.
The
multi-method
included
quantitative
qualitative
components.
It
employed
one-group
pretest–posttest
design
quantitatively
assess
impact
curriculum.
Additionally,
student
experiences
with
process
qualitatively
explored
through
focus
group
interview.

Abstract
Project-Based
Learning
(PBL)
is
a
pedagogical
method
that
combines
theory
and
practice
by
involving
students
in
real-world
challenges.
Continuous
feedback
crucial
PBL,
guiding
to
improve
their
methods
foster
progressive
thinking.
However,
PBL
faces
challenges
widespread
adoption
due
the
time
expertise
needed
for
effective
feedback,
especially
with
increasing
student
numbers.
This
paper
presents
novel
approach
using
Generative
AI,
specifically
an
enhanced
ChatGPT,
provide
feedback.
For
undergraduate
Web
Technology
course,
we
integrated
three
strategies:
1)
fine-tuning
ChatGPT
from
various
sources;
2)
additional
course-specific
information
context;
3)
incorporating
external
services
specialized
