The aim of this study is to find the relationship between problematic mobile phone use (PMPU) and new media literacy (NML) among Sechenov University, Pyatigorsk State Kuban University in Russia students where under progress. was conducted using a quantitative approach included 425 undergraduate students. data evaluated partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM); findings revealed complex NML PMPU. results that whilst functional production-consumption had negative effect, consumption critical beneficial effect on social dissonance. It noted cognitive effects were affected differently by aspects. Multiple group analysis based gender showed affects PMPU depending gender. These imply some situations good may encourage behavior rather than always resulting low use. report underlines initiatives should go beyond mere technical knowledge increase awareness about sensible balanced technology Furthermore covered are recommendations for next studies constraints study.
