The Cordycipitaceae family of insecticidal fungi is widely distributed in nature, the most complex order Hypocreales (Ascomycota), with members displaying a diversity morphological characteristics and insect host ranges. Based on Bayesian evolutionary analysis five genomic loci(the small subunit ribosomal RNA (SSU) gene, large (LSU) translation elongation factor 1-α (tef1-α) largest polymerase II (rpb1), second (rpb2), we inferred divergence times for Cordycipitaceae, improving internal phylogeny this fungal family. Molecular clock analyses indicate that ancestor Akanthomyces sensu lato occurred Paleogene period (34.57 Mya, 95% HPD: 31.41–37.67 Mya), species appeared Neogene period. historical biogeography was reconstructed using reconstructing ancestral state phylogenies (RASP) analysis, indicating it likely originated Asia. Combined characterization phylogenetic were used to identify taxonomically place within Cordycipitaceae. These include following: (i) two new species, namely baishanensis sp. nov. Samsoniella sanmingense nov., (ii) record isolated from infected Lepidopteran host, Blackwellomyces lateris, (iii) genus Niveomyces, sporothrix-like asexual morphs, N. multisynnematus, dipteran insects (flies), (iv) known (hyper-) mycoparasite, Liangia sinensis, fungus Ophiocordyceps globiceps (Ophiocordycipitaceae) growing host. Our data provide significant addition diversity, ecology, aspects

Cordycipitaceae is a well-known family in Hypocreales, comprising numerous arthropod-pathogenic species. Many taxa this have been identified and described through integrated morphological molecular analyses. In study, phylogenetic analyses using nrLSU, ITS, nrSSU, 3P_TEF, rpb1, rpb2 revealed new species, Pleurodesmosporasanduensis, collection of Akanthomycesbaishanensis. Additionally, concatenated 5P_TEF+3P_TEF+rpb1+MCM7 dataset was employed to clarify interspecific relationships within Samsoniella, identifying three species: Samsoniellalurida, S.subasiatica, S.torquatistipitata. Detailed descriptions illustrations are provided for each studied

Cordycipitaceae is a large family belonging to the order Hypocreales, including cosmopolitan species found on different substrates. This includes with lifestyles such as entomopathogenic, endophytic, and mycoparasitic fungi. Some in this attack phytopathogenic We identified of during survey fungicolous fungi associated Pseudocercospora fijiensis P. musae Brazil. Based morphological characters combined phylogenetic analysis ITS, LSU, SSU, RPB1, RPB2, TEF1-α, we propose new genus Cordycipitaceae, namely Matutinistella, its type M. brasiliensis, Simplicillium, S. pseudocercosporicola. Furthermore, report host fungus Simplicillium lanosoniveum. In study newly causal agents Black Sigatoka Yellow banana crops. provide relevant information for future work involving control measures these diseases that cause major losses Citation: Custódio FA, Pereira OL (2025).
