This study investigated the population dynamics, growth, reproduction, and parasitism of Penaeus aztecus over a 27-month period in Antalya Bay (Eastern Mediterranean). P. was most abundant shrimp species, comprising 53.4% collected specimens. Abundance varied seasonally, with peak densities summer. Males had smaller mean carapace length (CL) 25.8 mm compared to females at 30.2 mm. Females dominated larger size classes, all individuals ≥ 46 CL being female. The sex ratio balanced 1:1, no seasonal variations. Spawning occurred year-round, peaking June, late summer, November. displayed four ovarian stages, first mature (FMS) 36 CL. Parasitism by Epipenaeon ingens reduced density females, 42% potential spawners failing develop gonads. prevalence showed variation inversely correlated sea surface temperature (SST). Marine recruitment from June November, between July September. Growth analysis revealed faster rates while males reached maximum size. also identified inefficiencies gear selectivity, many juvenile (below size) retained. Trawl efficiency improved use turtle excluder devices (TEDs), which bycatch nontarget such as loggerhead turtles cartilaginous fishes. instantaneous total mortality rate (Z) ranged 0.658 0.026 month⁻1 for male 1.00 0.014 female shrimp, survival sharply declining after recruitment, leaving only about 3.6% surviving beyond 10 months.
