Background and Objectives: Neuropsychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, constitute a leading global public health challenge due to their high prevalence, chronicity, profound cognitive functional impact. This systematic review explores the role of electroencephalography (EEG)-based biomarkers in improving understanding, diagnosis, monitoring, treatment these conditions. It evaluates how EEG-derived markers can reflect neuro-cognitive dysfunction inform personalized scalable mental interventions. Materials Methods: A was conducted following PRISMA guidelines. The databases searched included PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO, Web Science for peer-reviewed empirical studies published between 2014 2025. Inclusion criteria focused on EEG-based investigations clinical populations with neuropsychiatric diagnoses, emphasizing that assessed associations function, symptom severity, response, or outcomes. Of 447 initially identified records, 132 were final synthesis. Results: identifies several EEG markers—such as mismatch negativity (MMN), P300, frontal alpha asymmetry, theta/beta ratios—as reliable indicators impairments across psychiatric populations. These are associated deficits attention, memory, executive functioning, show predictive utility outcomes disease progression. Methodological trends indicate an increasing use machine learning multimodal neuroimaging integration enhance diagnostic specificity. While many exhibit moderate risk bias, overall findings support biomarkers’ reproducibility translational relevance. Conclusions: offer valuable, non-invasive means capturing neurobiological underpinnings disorders. Their prognostic potential, well temporal resolution portability, supports contexts. field, however, requires further standardization, cross-validation, investment applications. Advancing biomarker research holds promise precision psychiatry proactive strategies at population level.

Treatment-resistant depression (TRD) is a substantial burden for psychiatric care, affecting approximately one-third of patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). Adolescent populations are particularly challenging demographic to treat as early intervention crucial prevent treatment resistance, but options limited. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) has emerged promising non-invasive option TRD in adults well adolescents, offering hope who have not responded conventional therapies. This review examines the convergence functional resonance imaging (fMRI) tool examine how TMS modulates connectivity adolescents MDD. Such analyses led advances our understanding pathophysiology MDD, TRD, and mechanisms TMS. We this evidence, evaluate methodological approaches, identify critical gaps existing literature, highlighting neuroimaging-guided protocols offer therapeutic avenue adolescent cases where treatments proven ineffective.
