The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect hydroponic barley forage in diets lactating Italian Mediterranean buffaloes on Mozzarella cheese chemical and sensory properties. Thirty‐six were evenly assigned three groups: control (C) with standard maize silage‐based ration, low (LH) high (HH) substitution for 50% 100% silage, respectively. HH had lower hardness, reduced saturated fatty acids, increased oleic α‐linolenic acids. Hydroponic could be an innovative system sustainable livestock production a positive impact improving its nutritional value.

Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is an efficient, non-destructive method for evaluating the chemical composition of various compounds. This study aimed to assess both proximate composition, fibres, and fatty acid (FA) content Total Mixed Rations (TMRs) in dairy buffalo nutrition. A total 240 TMR samples were collected from ten farms across four seasons develop predictive models using Partial Least Squares Regression (PLSR). Calibration dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), ether extract (EE), starch demonstrated good accuracy, with coefficients determination cross-validation (R2cv) around 0.90 Residual Predictive Deviation (RPDcv) values exceeding 3.0. Fatty showed slightly lower R2cv values, ranging 0.80 0.90. performance was observed linoleic (18:2 n-6) α-linolenic (18:3 n-3), RPDp above 3.0, indicating reliable predictions. The inclusion omega-3-rich compounds diet provides significant benefits animal health product quality, highlighting importance ration monitoring. findings confirm that while NIRS effective assessing further refinement needed improve FA prediction accuracy. These results support use as a practical tool nutritional monitoring lactating buffaloes.
