Bird populations inhabiting the Rio de la Plata Grasslands in southern Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay are known to be affected by livestock grazing practices. Cattle can lead changes bird assemblages affecting heterogeneity of vegetation structures. We conducted a meta-analysis using studies that reported richness abundance under different management compared ranches continuous (control, CGM) (1) technological inputs (TIM, herbicides exotic pastures) (2) ecological process-based (EPM), which include utilise controlled rotational grazing. used random effects multilevel linear models evaluate regimen impacts. Our results indicate negative impact TIM on both (mean ± SE: −0.25 0.07 −0.92 0.10, respectively) since use simplifies structure loss niches. Compared CGM, influence EPM total appears more dependent grassland height, as evidenced decline short grasses increase tall grasses. suggests practices may beneficial for conservation endangered tall-grass birds.
