Factors that Influence Thesis Writing in a Public University

Thesis
writing
during
undergraduate
studies
is
one
of
the
most
important
achievements
given
that
students
receive
their
degrees
based
on
this
work.
Therefore,
objective
our
research
was
to
characterize
different
thesis
factors
in
a
public
university.
We
used
mixed-methods
approach
included
questionnaire
and
interview
questions.
The
population
448
final
sample
208
from
Faculty
Education
at
large
state
university
Peru.
For
questionnaire,
Cronbach’s
Alpha
showed
reliability
0.80.
Meanwhile
construct
measured
with
Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin
(KMO)
measure
sampling
adequacy
0.74.
Results
perceptions
about
were
medium
(40.4%).
Regarding
personal
level
44.2%,
indicated
they
had
little
time
elaborate
theses
mostly
because
Academic
38.9%,
manifested
apply
what
have
learned
courses,
one-on-one
consulting
has
been
effective,
good
knowledge
APA,
skills
use
Mendeley
or
Zotero.
Finally,
institutional
39.3%,
expressed
although
standards
do
exist
for
writing,
lack
adequate
diffusion.
Also,
mentioned
courses
by
library,
among
other
factors.

This
study
aims
to
analyze
the
obstacles
encountered
by
students
in
Faculty
of
Mathematics
and
Natural
Sciences
(FMIPA)
at
Universitas
Negeri
Makassar
(UNM)
when
completing
their
final
projects
identify
strategies
accelerate
this
process.The
utilizes
a
survey
descriptive,
collecting
data
through
questionnaires
with
188
who
are
currently
studies
or
have
completed
them.A
descriptive
thematic
analysis
were
employed
obstacles,
which
involve
various
factors
affecting
time
required
complete
project,
including
internal
such
as
academic
ability,
motivation,
management
skills,
external
university
policies,
resource
availability,
support.Furthermore,
explores
efforts
that
can
be
taken
expedite
completion
students'
projects,
mentoring
programs,
regular
consultations,
skill
development,
support,
other
measures
enhance
efficiency
effectiveness.The
results
provide
better
understanding
challenges
face
project
offer
valuable
recommendations
for
improve
timeliness
process.This
is
particularly
relevant
efficient
timely
primary
goal
higher
education,
ensuring
successfully
finish
programs
within
four-year
timeframe.
