Omega-3 fatty acids (n-3 FAs), including alpha-linolenic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic (DHA), are essential for human health, significantly contributing to cardiovascular neurocognitive function, immune modulation. Traditionally, these sourced from flaxseeds, walnuts, fish like salmon mackerel. Recently, microalgae have gained attention as a sustainable source of n-3 FAs, they primary producers EPA DHA in aquatic ecosystems. This review examines production extraction methods, evaluating their efficiency oxidative stability. Abstract Microalgae and seaweed have been consumed as food for several decades to combat starvation shortages worldwide. The most famous edible microalgae species are Nostoc , Spirulina Aphanizomenon in addition seaweeds, which used traditional medicine food, such Nori, is one of the popular foods containing Pyropia alga a major ingredient. Recently, many applications use algae-derived polysaccharides agar, alginate, carrageenan, cellulose, fucoidan, mannan, laminarin, ulvan, xylan gelling agents pharmaceuticals, cosmetics industries. Moreover, pigments (carotenoids particularly astaxanthins, chlorophylls, phycobilins), minerals, vitamins, polyunsaturated fatty acids, peptides, proteins, polyphenols, diterpenes compounds accumulated under specific cultivation stress conditions algal cells be harvested their biomass feedstock relevant industries applications. No less critical algae bioremediation, thus contributing significantly environmental sustainability. This review will explore discuss various emphasising role recent products with added-value that now on market, novel under-developing bioplastics nanoparticle production. Nonetheless, special attention also drawn towards limitations these technologies applied, how they may overcome.

Abstract The primary objective of this study was to comprehensively explore the biochemical profile novel halotolerant microalgae strain, biogas laboratory scenedesmus (BGLRS), previously isolated from waterlogged regions in southwest zone Punjab, India. To achieve this, three distinct drying methods viz. freeze‐drying, oven‐drying, and shade‐drying were employed composition antioxidant analyses on microalgal biomass conducted. Utilizing advanced analytical techniques, including high‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), inductively coupled plasma‐atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP‐AES), gas chromatography‐mass (GC‐MS) freeze‐dried biomass, its carbohydrate profile, micronutrient composition, presence bioactive compounds with potential therapeutic nutraceutical significance sought unravel. Among evaluated, freeze‐drying exhibited most promising experimental results, prompting selection for further investigation. Notably, ICP‐AES unveiled elevated concentrations essential elements such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus BGLRS, negligible traces heavy metals, underscoring safety human consumption. GC‐MS analysis divulged existence numerous biologically active compounds, indicating applications medical fields. Through molecular identification using sequencing internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region, a close taxonomic resemblance between BGLRS Scenedesmus sp. MKB established, solidifying unique position within taxonomy. deposition ITS sequences into NCBI GenBank, obtaining accession number MN796425, attests rigor transparency research. Overall, these findings strongly suggest that possesses high‐quality attributes significant importance.

Marine phytoplankton is an emerging source of immunomodulatory bioactive lipids (BLs). Under physiological growth conditions and upon stress challenges, several eukaryotic microalgal species accumulate lipid metabolites that resemble the precursors animal mediators inflammation: eicosanoids prostaglandins. Therefore, marine could serve as a biotechnological platform to produce functional BLs with therapeutic applications in management chronic inflammatory diseases other clinical conditions. However, be commercially competitive, lipidic precursor yields should enhanced. Beside tailoring cultivation native producers, genetic engineering feasible strategy accrue production introduce heterologous biosynthetic pathways hosts. Here, we present state-of-the-art research on from discuss synthetic biology approaches boost their light-driven biosynthesis.

Fungal diseases caused by Fusarium spp. significantly threaten food security and sustainable agriculture. One of the traditional strategies for eradicating incidents is use chemical synthetic fungicides. The excessive these products generates environmental damage has negative effects on crop yield. It puts plants in stressful conditions, kills natural soil microbiome, makes phytopathogenic fungi resistant. Finally, it also causes health problems farmers. This drives search selection alternatives, such as bio-fungicides. Among products, algae cyanobacteria are promising sources antifungal bio-compounds. Fishponds are regarded as hypertrophic systems accompanied by low biodiversity. We focused on the phytoplankton diversity of 15 fishponds located in Austria. Of fishponds, 12 waterbodies aquaculture ponds stocked with common carp, which converted to organic farming some years ago grain supplementary feed, and 3 used for recreational fishing. The trophic state index increased from 59 71 spring 80 93 autumn classified mid-eutrophic hypertrophic. taxa number was surprisingly high (taxa richness up 100 per pond). resource use efficiency upper range eutrophicated waters did not show seasonal differences (median Chlorophyll-a/total phosphorus = 1.94, nitrogen 0.12). Linking environmental data algal community resulted a distinct temporal pattern significant shift cooler season dominated Ochrophyta green algae most abundant group summer autumn. Our findings challenge general assumptions regarding long-lasting Cyanobacteria blooms conform dynamics described plankton ecology (PEG) model temperate shallow lakes.
