Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic degenerative autoimmune disease of the central nervous system that causes inflammation, demyelinating lesions, and axonal damage associated with high rate early-onset disability. Disease-modifying therapies are used to mitigate inflammatory process in MS but do not promote regeneration or remyelination; cell therapy may play an important role these processes, modulating inflammation promoting repopulation oligodendrocytes, which responsible for myelin repair. The development genetic engineering has led emergence stable, biocompatible biomaterials favorable environment exogenous cells. This review summarizes available evidence about effects transplantation different types stem cells reported studies several animal models clinical trials human patients. We also address advantages combining biomaterials.

The degeneration of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) often causes irreversible vision impairment. Prevention RGC can prevent or delay the deterioration visual function. present study aimed to investigate metabolic profiles following optic nerve transection (ONT) injury and identify potential targets for prevention degeneration. Retinal samples were dissected from ONT group non‑ONT group. untargeted metabolomics carried out using liquid chromatography‑tandem mass spectrometry. involved pathways biomarkers analyzed Kyoto Encyclopedia Genes Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis MetaboAnalyst 5.0. In group, 689 disparate metabolites detected, including lipids lipid‑like molecules. A total 122 successfully annotated enriched in 50 KEGG pathways. Among them, ‘sphingolipid metabolism’ ‘primary bile acid biosynthesis’ identified five selected as candidate detecting with an AUC value 1. revealed that lipid‑related metabolism was pathogenesis neurodegeneration. Taurine, taurochenodesoxycholic acid, taurocholic (TCA), sphingosine, galabiosylceramide are shown promising diagnosis
