Aim We aimed to investigate the seroprevalence of Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) infection in children before and during COVID-19 pandemic. Methods All admitted Children's Hospital Affiliated Zhejiang University from January 2019 December 2021 with suspected EBV-associated disease EBV antibodies were detected by a two-step indirect method chemiluminescence technology. A total 44,943 enrolled this study. The infections was compared 2021. Results seropositive rate 61.02% between 2021, trend decreased year year. number 2020 reduced 30% that 2019. In particular, nearly 50% reductions acute reactivations or late primary found, respectively. aged 1–3 years reactivation 6–9 sharply dropped approximately 40% 64% Conclusions Our study further demonstrated prevention control measures for China had certain effect on containing infections.

During the COVID-19 epidemic, nonpharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) blocked transmission route of respiratory diseases. This study aimed to investigate impact NPIs on influenza A virus (IAV) outbreak. The present enrolled all children with tract infections who came Children's Hospital Zhejiang University between January 2019 and July 2022. direct immunofluorescence assay kit detected IAV. Virus isolation Sanger sequencing were performed. From June 2022, in Hangzhou, China, positive rate IAV infection has increased rapidly, reaching 30.41%, over 3 years old are main infected population, accounting for 75% total number children. Influenza (H3N2) viruses representative strains during this period. In outbreak, H3N2 was isolated from a cluster its own is highly homologous A/South_Dakota/22/2022 (2021-2022 Northern Hemisphere). Between A/South_Dakota/22/2022, nucleotide homology HA gene ranged 97.3% 97.5%; amino acid 97%-97.2%, genetic distance nucleotides 0.05 0.052. Compared showed S156H, N159Y, I160T, D186S, S198P, I48T, S53D, K171N mutations. There no variation 13 key sites associated neuraminidase inhibitor resistance NA protein. Long-term have significantly affected evolution human immunity, breaking dynamic balance immunity.

BackgroundIncreasing reports have indicated that non-pharmaceutical interventions to control the COVID-19 pandemic may also an effect on prevalence of other pathogens. Mycoplasma pneumoniae is important atypical pathogen prevalent in children with high rates macrolide resistance. The aim this study was investigate epidemiological characteristics M. infection before and during pandemic.MethodsIn study, detection results were extracted from Henan Children's Hospital 2018 2021. pediatric analyzed.ResultsWe found highest positive rate 11.00 % 2018, 14.01 2019, followed by 11.24 2021 8.75 2020 (p < 0.001). Most tested had respiratory system manifestations, most common diagnosis (53.23 %). An increase number cases observed age, a higher among over 6 years old. No identified aged 1–28 days. decrease between1–6years old be statistically significant pre-pandemic period demonstrated incidence fall, whereas summers winters exhibited significantly Different regions showed different epidemic patterns.ConclusionsIn summary, strict measures influenced spread some extent changed demographic characteristics, including season regional distribution. Continuous monitoring required for prevention related diseases.

Similar to previous pandemics, COVID-19 has been succeeded by well-documented post-infectious sequelae, including chronic fatigue, cough, shortness of breath, myalgia, and concentration difficulties, which may last 5 12 weeks or longer after the acute phase illness. Both psychological stress SARS-CoV-2 infection being diagnosed with can upregulate cortisol, a hormone that disrupts efferocytosis effectors, macrophages, natural killer cells, leading excessive accumulation senescent cells disruption biological barriers. This well-established in cancer patients who often experience unrelenting fatigue as well gut blood–brain barrier dysfunction upon treatment senescence-inducing radiation chemotherapy. In our research from 2020 2021, we linked myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic syndrome (ME/CFS) via angiotensin II upregulation, premature endothelial senescence, intestinal dysfunction, microbial translocation gastrointestinal tract into systemic circulation. 2021 2022, these hypotheses were validated SARS-CoV-2-induced cellular senescence documented both infection, long COVID, ME/CFS, connecting disabling specific infectious events. The purpose this narrative review is summarize what currently known about host immune responses translocated microbes how relate fatiguing illnesses, COVID. To accomplish goal, examine role barriers COVID other illnesses typified special emphasis on commensal functioning viral reservoirs. Furthermore, discuss SARS-CoV-2/Mycoplasma coinfection dysfunctional efferocytosis, emphasizing some potential novel strategies, use senotherapeutic drugs, HMGB1 inhibitors, Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) blockers, membrane lipid replacement.
