Navigating the fear: assessing nursing students’ concerns and preventive practices in response to Monkeypox in Egypt

Abstract
Background
Monkeypox
has
emerged
as
a
global
health
concern,
necessitating
preventive
measures
and
awareness
among
healthcare
students.
Understanding
nursing
students’
fears,
concerns,
practices
regarding
can
help
improve
preparedness
response
strategies.
Aim
This
study
aimed
to
assess
the
levels
of
fear,
related
monkeypox
students
at
Beni
Suef
University,
Egypt,
during
2024–2025
academic
year.
Methods
A
cross-sectional
descriptive
design
was
employed,
involving
505
systematically
randomized
recruited.
Data
collection
utilized
three
validated
tools:
Fear
Scale,
Concern
Preventive
Practices
Scale.
Reliability
confirmed
with
Cronbach’s
alpha
values
ranging
from
0.87

Most

about

Mpox
is
a
zoonotic
viral
disease
that
presents
significant
public
health
challenges.
Despite
the
pivotal
role
of
healthcare
workers,
research

workers'
knowledge,
awareness

regarding

Abstract
Background:
Sixteen
African
countries,

Kenya,
reported
mpox
cases
in
July
and
August,
prompting

Centers

Disease
Control
