The World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) envisions a future where actionable climate information is universally accessible, supporting decision makers in preparing for and responding to change. In this perspective, we advocate enhancing links between science decision-making through better more decision-relevant understanding of impacts. proposed framework comprises three pillars: science, impact decision-making, focusing on generating seamless from sub-seasonal, seasonal, decadal century timescales informed by observed events their link has strengthened recent years, partly owing undeniable impacts arising disastrous weather extremes. Enhancing involves utilizing lessons past extreme implementing impact-based early warning systems improve resilience. Integrated risk assessment management require comprehensive approach that encompasses good knowledge about possible impacts, hazard identification, monitoring, communication risks while acknowledging uncertainties inherent predictions projections, but not letting the uncertainty lead paralysis. importance data accessibility, especially Global South, underscores need coordination resource allocation. Strategic frameworks should aim enhance impact-related open-access services around world. Continuous improvements predictive modeling observational are critical, as ensuring remains relevant locally globally. Ultimately, fostering stronger collaborations dedicated investments process tailor will societal preparedness, enabling communities navigate complexities changing effectively.
