ABSTRACT Using sonification on scientific data analysis provides additional dimensions to visualization, potentially increasing researchers’ analytical capabilities and fostering inclusion accessibility. This research explores the potential of multimodal integral field spectroscopy applied galaxy through development evaluation a tool that complements visualization cubes with sound. The proposed application, ViewCube, interactive visualizations sonifications spectral information across 2D field-of-view, its architecture is designed incorporate future approaches. first implementation described in this article uses deep learning module generate binaural unsupervised auditory representations. work includes qualitative quantitative user study based an online questionnaire, aimed at both specialized non-specialized participants, focusing case galaxies from Calar Alto Integral Field Spectroscopy Area survey. Out 67 participants who completed 42 had opportunity test application person prior filling out 81 per cent these expressed good response tool, 79.1 complete sample found ‘Useful’, 58.2 rated aesthetics as ‘Good’. results suggest all were able retrieve sonifications, pointing previous experience sound events more helpful than knowledge for tasks, highlighting importance training attention detail understanding complex information.
