The aim of the study was to explore students’ own translation symbolic level a chemical reaction, including information provided with use coefficients, indices, and signs, as well preservation atoms. Students were asked translate combustion methane clay modelling. students had make active choices regarding size, shape, two- or three-dimensional structure, number atoms in molecules included reaction using modelling clay. analysis followed three levels presented by Hedegaard. results highlight variations answers show importance investigating unrestricted translations chemistry. Including educational process is helpful for both educators students, it fosters comprehension underlying processes enhances awareness substance structure atom redistribution across various substances.
