ABSTRACT Adolescent depression is a highly recurrent and disabling mental health condition affecting significant proportion of adolescents. Conversely, adolescent well‐being positive state enhanced quality life. Depression are critical metrics life quality. However, little known about the biopsychosocial markers that differentiate between these states. Stemming from our extensive longitudinal emotional vulnerability in adolescents ((EVA) research, this study identified potential by examining associations range factors relatively homogenous sample at baseline. N = 425 (60.5% female 34.4% male) 12 18 years (M 15.06, SD 1.75) were recruited independent schools. A comprehensive battery standardized measures was administered to assess various factors, including background demographic clinical characteristics, lifestyle neural‐cognitive mechanisms, psychological social stress‐related coping style, personality traits. Multiple Regression analyzes using backward eliminations indicated less physical activity, more media usage, eating disorder risk, greater perceived stress, higher neuroticism, excessive rumination negative self‐reference bias accounted for 68% depressive symptoms. Lower cognitive interpretation sufficient account 51% scores. The present findings suggest key bio‐psycho‐social risk resilience may play role predicting well‐being. Upon further examination follow‐up studies, results will directly contribute developing preventative intervention strategies.

In healthy individuals, the majority of cortisol secretion occurs within several hours surrounding morning awakening. A highly studied component this secretory period is awakening response (CAR), rapid increase in levels across first 30-45 min after This strong burst at start active phase has been proposed to be functional preparing organism for challenges upcoming day. Here, we review evidence on key regulatory and processes CAR develop an integrative model its role. Specifically, propose that, closely regulated by intricate dual-control system, which draws upon circadian, environmental neurocognitive best predict daily need cortisol-related action. Fine-tuned expression, turn, then assumed induce potent glucocorticoid action via non-genomic slower genomic pathways (e.g., affecting circadian clock gene expression) support modulate activity through relevant metabolic, immunological systems. We that concerted adaptive mediating two main functions: a primary process mobilize resources meet activity-related demands secondary help counterregulate adverse prior-day emotional experiences.

The aim of this study was to investigate lifestyle habits in health and non-health science students from the University Split, Croatia, evaluate their association with perceived stress psychological well-being. We surveyed 783 during February–March 2021. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis used analysis. Health spent less time using screens, were sitting less, slept but also showed better compliance Mediterranean diet compared (10.6% vs. 5.9%). There no differences well-being perception between two groups. Female gender, lack sleep, daily time, anxiety, lower optimism associated higher students, while anxiousness more found be significant among students. Well-being positively BMI, having had COVID-19, being refreshed after waking up working days, adherence, perception, optimism, quality life, negatively TV anxiousness. Shorter sleep duration on non-working feeling life Identifying unhealthy is essential for implementing targeted interventions outcomes.

Abstract Inter‐individual differences are necessary for selection to act, while plasticity (intra‐individual variation) may buffer against selection. Sleep is a critical self‐maintenance behaviour but, unlike most behaviours, the causes and consequences of its inter‐ intra‐individual variation in wild animals poorly understood, particularly neonates where sleep plays key role development. We have shown previously that free‐ranging neonate fallow deer ( Dama dama ) differ during first few weeks life. Here, we test whether individual variability organised systematically across population, these associated with chronic stress measured using hair cortisol, or timing birth. Four dimensions (total time, fragmentation, quality, distribution over 24‐h) were quantified state‐of‐the‐art triaxial accelerometers. then used multivariate mixed‐effects model Bayesian framework evaluate covariation between multiple behaviour, quantify relative importance birth, accounting confounding effects environmental conditions age. found birth not changes individuals. While both total time number bouts per day declined age, their rate development covaried, but no other covaried. Our results represent an in‐depth analysis natural sleep, show four aspects architecture free‐living fawns strong independent one another unrelated suggest might emerge later life cortisol be very short transient.
