The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index-related obesity indices have been proposed as reliable indicators of insulin resistance. This study aims to investigate the association between TyG and sarcopenia well their potential a tool for screening sarcopenic patients. A cross-sectional was conducted involving 7,161 participants aged 18 above from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey. index indices, including glucose-body mass (TyG-BMI), glucose-waist circumference (TyG-WC), glucose-waist-to-height ratio (TyG-WHtR) were determined using standard formulas. appendicular skeletal muscle BMI used assess sarcopenia. relationship investigated restricted cubic spline analysis multivariate logistic regression analysis. diagnostic value -related compared receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. In fully adjusted model, positive correlation observed TyG-WHtR (for each one-unit increase in index: OR = 3.57, 95% CI: 2.71–4.71, P < 0.001). Additionally, analyses demonstrated significant predictor with highest odds ratio, reaching 12.50 (95% 6.13–25.70, 0.001) upper fourth quartile (Q4) first quartile, followed by TyG-BMI (Q4: 3.34; 1.92–5.80, TyG-WC 1.95; 1.04–3.68, RCS curve fitting indicated U-shaped diagnosis sarcopenia, an inflection point at 4.02. Furthermore, ROC analysis, AUC largest (0.79, ndex-related especially TyG-WHtR, shown be more effective identifying patients than alone.

The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index, a readily accessible surrogate biomarker for insulin resistance and metabolic health, has been extensively investigated across various ethnic populations. critical role of physical activity (PA) in enhancing sensitivity corroborated by numerous studies. Nonetheless, the relationship between different patterns PA TyG index remains ambiguous. This study seeks to elucidate association index. Participants with complete data on patterns, other covariates from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey database (2007-2018) were included this study. Participant characteristics groups compared using Rao-Scott chi-squared test or Kruskal-Wallis test. Multivariate linear regression models used assess subgroup analyses, interaction tests restricted cubic spline (RCS) analyses conducted explore stability potential nonlinearity PA-TyG association, respectively. A total 16,440 participants included, 12,909, 164, 118, 3249 individuals being inactive, insufficiently active, weekend warriors (WWs), regularly active (RA), adjusted showed that adults (β = - 0.05, P 0.3524), WWs -0.01, 0.9129), RA 0.110, < 0.0001) all had significantly lower indices inactive adults. Significant difference was observed (P trend 0.0001). Stratified interact revealed group more pronounced male, higher education levels, without diabetes. Additionally, significant, non-linear, negative weekly non-inactive determined RCS analysis overall 0.001, 0.054). Being is linked substantial reduction whereas those insufficient do not experience comparable benefits. Nevertheless, warrior approach can provide practical alternative who are unable engage consistent exercise.

The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index serves as an alternative for assessing insulin resistance (IR). relationship between the TyG and its combined indicators sarcopenia remains insufficiently explored. To investigate association parameters sarcopenia. This cross-sectional study encompassed 792 community-dwelling older adults from Chongqing Aging Sarcopenia Evaluation (CHASE) cohort. multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze parameters, which include triglyceride glucose-body mass (TyG-BMI), glucose-calf girth (TyG-CG), glucose-waist circumference (TyG-WC), glucose-waist-to-hip ratio (TyG-WHR). receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve utilized assess diagnostic effect of each index. integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) net reclassification (NRI) were applied compare efficacy among indices. demonstrated a significant correlation with risk (P < 0.05). area under ROC (AUC) in predicting 0.623 (95% confidence interval: 0.570-0.675). Notably, composite incorporating showed enhanced predictive performance. Specifically, TyG-BMI showing highest AUC 0.892 0.860-0.924), indicating strong potential. Furthermore, superior that all other both IDI NRI. demonstrates potential identification, significantly accuracy when parameters. Among them, is robust predictor due power.
