Hexavalent Chromium (Cr(VI)) is essential in many industrial processes. However, it finds its way into water bodies, posing health problems, including lung cancer and the inhibition of DNA RNA biological systems. Several chemical traditional purification methods have been developed past, but most are expensive, tedious ineffective. This study aimed to prepare characterize a low-cost hybrid adsorbent, β-Cyclodextrin capped magnetic nanoparticles anchored on cellulosic matrix (CNC-Fe

Abstract Chromium (VI) is a highly toxic heavy metal ion linked to severe health issues, including kidney failure, gastrointestinal irritation, multi‐organ and death, depending on exposure levels. Several chemical traditional water purification methods have been developed in the past, but most are expensive, tedious, ineffective. This current study employed cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) prepared via hydrolysis of waste paper, followed by carboxylation integration with sodium alginate enhance Cr adsorptive properties. The adsorbents were solidified using calcium chloride characterized for their structure surface energy optimization. MATLAB‐ANFIS was used predict chromium adsorption at various optimization parameters such as pH, dosage, contact time, initial concentration. adaptive neuro‐fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) offered practical approach optimize processes, saving time resources real‐life applications. To prediction accuracy, Box‐Behnken design (BBD) membership functions (MFs) numbers. Eight widely MFs, triangular, trapezoidal, Gaussian, generalized bell‐shaped, evaluated. ANFIS models fitted triangular trapezoidal MFs proved statistically significant 95% confidence level, according ANOVA analysis. Optimal MF numbers inputs identified 5‐5‐2 9‐9‐3 MFs. optimized model, employing achieved low root mean square error (RMSE) 1.9084 high correlation coefficient ( R 2 ) 0.9922, demonstrating its accuracy reliability predicting capacity under optimal conditions. systematic demonstrates effectiveness accurately optimizing processes.
