This study systematically analyzes the temporal variation characteristics, driving mechanisms, and decoupling relationship between carbon emissions economic output in China’s planting industry. Using a dynamic panel model, LMDI decomposition, coupling coordination it explores main influencing factors of their evolution. The findings reveal that from 2003 to 2022, industry exhibited phased trend rising first then declining, with limited overall reduction. Carbon demonstrated significant path dependency. Planting agricultural investment were identified as primary for emissions, while energy intensity mechanization levels had inhibitory effects. Decoupling analysis showed weak dominates, strong achieved only specific regions periods, highlighting regional disparities.
