Vaginal colonization by Candida can lead to vulvovaginal candidiasis, which is the second most prevalent vaginal condition globally. It frequently associated with sepsis and adverse neonatal outcomes in pregnant women. This issue worsening Sub-Saharan Africa, including Ethiopia. However, evidence of existing problem very scarce yet crucial. Thus, this study aimed determine vertical transmission species their factors among women neonates public health facilities northeast A facility-based cross-sectional was conducted at selected Dessie town from April 1 June 30, 2023, 348 newborns, using convenience sampling techniques. Socio-demographic, clinical-related data were collected a pre-tested, semi-structured questionnaire. swab samples pooled swabs external ear, nasal area, umbilical areas newborns transported Amies transport media. The inoculated into Sabouraud Dextrose Agar for isolation, followed inoculation onto standard CHROM agar plate identification, germ-tube test confirmed pseudophyphae C.albicans. Gardnerella is a key pathogen in bacterial vaginosis (BV), but the role of different species remains unclear. We investigated four species, as well Fannyhessea vaginae, Lactobacillus crispatus and L. iners BV. From 331 pregnant women from Democratic Republic Congo, BV was diagnosed using Nugent scoring cervicovaginal lavage used to quantify G. leopoldii, piotii, swidsinskii, vaginalis, F. by qPCR. Univariate associations between these clinical outcomes were assessed. A logistic regression model ROC curves calculated determine best diagnostic marker for Here, (75.8%) most prevalent vaginalis (36.0%) common species. All spp. (50.9-57.9%) with (asymptomatic) analysis revealed no significant symptoms BV, while vaginae (positive Whiff test, high pH), (high pH) (low associated signs piotii markers urinary tract infection. Women had higher odds delivering preterm. analyses showed that (AUC 0.81), combined further increased performance 0.90). involved although none important emerged superior molecular
