Diet habit plays a vital role in fecal incontinence (FI) progression. However, it remains unknown whether dietary quality is related to FI. Our study sought explore the relationship between healthy eating index-2015 (HEI-2015) score and FI among US adults. An analysis of data from 2005–2010 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey was conducted our study. The Bowel Questionnaire defined as losing liquid, solid, or mucus stool at least monthly. diet's evaluated using HEI-2015 score. odds ratios (ORs) 95% confidence interval (95%CI) were calculated multi-variable logistic regression models. There 11,452 participants, with 9.3% (1062/11452) who experienced Compared individuals inadequate group (HEI < 50), adjusted OR values for HEI average (50 ≤ 70) optimal ≥ 0.89 (95%CI: 0.74–1.07, p = 0.214) 0.69 0.52–0.91, 0.011), respectively. Subsequent stratified analyses did not reveal any interactions. High-quality diets are lower risk Therefore, imperative take into account potential impact diet on when devising strategies treatment prevention.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a debilitating inflammatory bowel disease characterized by intestinal inflammation, barrier dysfunction, and dysbiosis, with limited treatment options available. This study systematically investigates the therapeutic potential of synbiotic composed galactooligosaccharides (GOS) Limosilactobacillus reuteri in murine model colitis, revealing that GOS L. synergistically protect against inflammation dysfunction promoting synthesis pentadecanoic acid, an odd-chain fatty from Bacteroides acidifaciens. Notably, synbiotic, B. acidifaciens, acid are each capable suppressing enhancing tight junction inhibiting NF-κB activation. Furthermore, similar reduction acidifaciens levels also observed feces both human UC patients lipopolysaccharide-induced pigs. Our findings elucidate protective mechanism highlight its potential, along for other disorders. Here, Yujun Wu colleagues report alleviates gut animals enriching showing treating ulcerative colitis.

Purpose of review This aims to examine recent research on the role specialized pro-resolving mediators (SPMs) in regulation gut immunophysiology. Recent findings Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is characterized by chronic inflammation gastrointestinal tract, driven disruptions intestinal barrier and an imbalance between host immune system microbiota. Dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), especially ω-3 ω-6, are key regulators responses help maintain integrity barrier. These PUFAs serve as precursors SPMs, lipid that play a critical resolving inflammation. SPMs actively reprogram cells, promoting clearance cellular debris, reducing cytokine production, restoring tissue homeostasis without suppressing response. Emerging evidence indicates gut, strengthen function, modulate colitis colon cancer, influence microbiota composition. Summary The strongly supports central maintaining health organ function following inflammatory challenges. highlights potential therapeutic approaches target these pathways for both prevention treatment gut-related conditions.

Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis (S. Enteritidis) is a common zoonotic pathogen that not only causes gastroenteritis or death of livestock and poultry but also poses serious threat to human health, causing severe economic losses the industry society. Herein, RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) was used analyze transcriptome variation chicken cecum at four different time points (1, 3, 7, 14 days) following S. infection. There were 529, 1477, 476, 432 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in days post-infection (dpi), respectively. The DEGs significantly enriched various immune-related pathways on 3 dpi 7 dpi, such as cytokine-cytokine-receptor interaction Toll-like receptor signaling pathway. several metabolic dpi. Ulcerative colitis (UC) has experienced a steady increase in global incidence and prevalence recently. Current research into UC pathogenesis focuses on the complex interplay of genetic environmental factors with immune system gut microbiome, leading to disruption intestinal barrier. Normally, epithelium, interact maintain homeostasis. However, when this equilibrium is disturbed, harmful cycle dysbiosis, dysregulation, inflammation emerges, resulting barrier dysfunction progression. Among various risk factors, diet significantly influences epithelial integrity architectural stability through both direct indirect mechanisms, shaping entire continuum from pre-clinical prevention active phase treatment remission maintenance. This review provides insights impact dietary content eating behaviors UC, focusing specific food, food groups, nutrients, intermittent fasting, while providing detailed explanation why microbiota may mediate sustained effects across all stages UC. Additionally, it addresses limitations current studies, explores underexamined areas proposes potential directions for future expansion. Not applicable.
