This study explores biohydrogen production through dark fermentation, an alternative supporting sustainable hydrogen generation. Dark fermentation uses organic waste under anaerobic conditions to produce in the absence of light. Key process parameters affecting yield, including substrate type, microorganism selection, and conditions, were examined. Various substrates, such as wastes carbohydrates, tested, role facultative microorganisms optimizing was analyzed. The research also focused on factors pH, temperature, hydraulic retention time enhance yields scalability. Additionally, modelled using ASPEN Plus software 14. simulation identifies bottle necks this process. Due lack available data, modelling described processes required certain approximations. provides insight into key challenges that need be addressed for production. Future should indeed explore current limitations, efficiency, scalability, cost-effectiveness, well potential advancements like genetic engineering microbial strains improved bioreactor designs.
