Abstract Investments in agricultural intensification Sub-Saharan Africa aim to fulfill food and economic demands. However, the increased use of fertilizers pesticides poses ecological risks water bodies catchments. This study focused on assessing impact nutrient pesticide pollution L. Naivasha catchment Kenya. The research revealed significant changes catchment's landscape between 1989 2019, driven by intensified expansion. As a result, emissions have worsened lake's trophic status, shifting it towards hypereutrophic conditions. found weak relationship total nitrogen (TN) ∑DDT, indicating that an increase TN slightly predicted reduction ∑DDT. Analysis also showed potential phosphorus (P) limitation at N3 site (Hippo Point) lake. Additionally, observed DDD:DDE (DDE + DDD):DDT ratios suggest recent banned DDT catchment. concludes unsustainable expansion has transformed landscape, necessitating adoption practices support quality management achieve UN Sustainable Development Goals.
