The paradise threadfin, Polynemus paradiseus is one of the commercially important brackishwater finfish family Perciformes in Bangladesh. present study aimed to investigate reproductive biology threadfin from Shibsa River fish samples (66) were collected May 2021 April 2022. relationship between body weight (BW) and total length (TL) sampled analyzed with a non-linear power equation where R 2 = 0.915 ‘b’ value (3.22) indicates positive allometric growth pattern. Linear gonad (GW) increases BW fecundity BW, TL, GW gonadosomatic index (GSI). highest GSI was recorded June (11.10±0.91), whereas, lowest November (0.44±0.08). maximum found (32410±7790). Ovarian histology displayed different stages oocyte development. Late yolk granule stage (LYGS) months September-October May-July, respectively. Based on GSI, ovarian histology, it revealed that spawning season P. Small-scale fisheries play a vital role in the economy of Bangladesh, especially providing livelihood to fishers and foreign exchange. A study on socio-economic assessment small-scale fishing fish availability Kalni River Habiganj district was conducted for four months from May August 2023. total 58 were randomly selected interviewed information gathering pre-checklisting focus group discussions (FGDs). Of these, 93% male mean age 36.89 ± 6.43 years. The results showed that monthly income ranged 10,000-20,000 BDT, 20,000-30,000 less than 10,000 BDT. collected various aspects including type gear used small indigenous (SIS). main method, 'Ber jal' gear, accounted 80% catch, while 'Dhormo remaining 20%. During this period, 1-3 types Puti (Puntius sp.) (Nandus nandus) Gobiidae family is most abundant species. Various SISs caught river; some rare species also identified. Community-based management approach sanctuaries, as well public awareness fishery resources, could be effective minimizing anthropogenic impacts fishers’ livelihood.

Abstract Aquaculture is the world's fastest‐growing food‐producing sector, making it a significant contributor to food and nutrition security for globally growing human population. Nevertheless, its long‐term growth limited by effects of climate change. in Sub‐Saharan Africa (SSA), which dominated small‐scale fish farming, increasingly threatened change, has substantial influence on productivity scalability. In this context, present research looks at socio‐economic consequences change producers SSA, as well potential adaptation techniques A clear understanding these repercussions critical developing effective strategies reduce future impacts safeguard aquaculture‐based livelihoods. Furthermore, communities dependent aquaculture important advising policymakers decision‐makers formulating implementing policies that sustain production amidst crisis. This article suggests various increase resilience including diversification livelihoods species, use incorporation local indigenous knowledge, shifting species less vulnerable changing climatic conditions, capacity building through insurance schemes, continued supply from capture fisheries, consolidation equity rights concerns. These adaptive methods, when combined, have enhance outcomes populations who are more susceptible owing their unstable conditions.

An integrated multivariate approach was applied to gain a deeper understanding of the feeding biology hilsa shad, Tenualosa ilisha, collected from six different aquatic habitats across Bangladesh. This involved linking climatic factors, ecological plankton abundance in water, reproductive traits, and ingestion data. Climatic data were obtained National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Data Online (CDO) databases on monthly basis. Water quality parameters observed on-site at various sampling sites. Plankton water bodies guts study areas analyzed laboratory. The results averaged for each month. correlation tests, approaches, cluster analyses, regression analyses revealed that gonadosomatic index primarily influenced by ingested gut plankton, heir compositions. analysis selectivity indices confirmed preferentially selective taxa. Thirteen groups identified column habitats. dominant phytoplankton Bacillariophyceae (34–53%), Chlorophyceae (31–50%), Cyanophyceae (4–8%), Euglenophyceae (1–3%). Additionally, Copepoda, Rotifera, Cladocera most numerous zooplankton groups. Hilsa shad consumed (38–57%), (35–53%), (4–6%). However, they also exhibited higher quantities fulfill specific unique metabolic needs. Cluster variability relation diverse locations. Combining all datasets, principal component (PCA) applied. first two components explained more than 54% variability. association between eco-climatic while second extracted salinity pH. Pearson’s correlations linear showed number had positive influence (GSI). Finally, outcomes these extensive datasets have provided better behavior gonadal maturation T. ilisha. is likely be useful maintaining improving growth productivity existing production systems this transboundary species.
