Abstract Impaired cerebrovascular function contributes to the genesis of age‐related cognitive decline. In this study, hypothesis is tested that impairments in neurovascular coupling (NVC) responses and brain network predict dysfunction older adults. Cerebromicrovascular working memory healthy young ( n = 21, 33.2±7.0 years) aged 30, 75.9±6.9 participants are assessed. To determine NVC functional connectivity (FC) during a (n‐back) paradigm, oxy‐ deoxyhemoglobin concentration changes from frontal cortex using near‐infrared spectroscopy recorded. significantly impaired 2‐back task participants, while networks characterized by higher local global connection strength, dynamic FC p < 0.05). Both increased correlate with decline accuracy task. These findings suggest task‐related states adults require stronger connections compensate for attenuated associated load.

Endothelial cells lining blood vessels are essential for maintaining vascular homeostasis and mediate several pathological physiological processes. Mechanical stresses generated by flow other biomechanical factors significantly affect endothelial cell activity. Here, we review how mechanical stresses, both in situ vitro, cells. We the basic principles underlying cellular response to stresses. also consider implications of these findings understanding mechanisms mechanotransducer mechano-signal transduction systems cytoskeletal components.

Abstract Purpose of Review We summarise the physiological changes and risk factors for hypertension in females, potential sex-specific management approaches, long-term prognosis. Key Findings Pregnancy menopause are two key phases life cycle where females undergo significant biological physical changes, making them more prone to developing hypertension. Gestational occurs from maternal cardiac output, kidney function, metabolism, or placental vasculature, with one ten experiencing pregnancy complications such as intrauterine growth restriction delivery premature birth. Post-menopausal protective effects oestrogen reduced sympathetic nervous system becomes over-activated ageing. Increasing evidence suggests that post-menopausal high blood pressure (BP) experience greater cardiovascular events at lower BP thresholds, vulnerability treatment-related adverse effects. Summary Hypertension is a factor disease females. Current treatment guidelines recommendations similar both sexes, without addressing factors. Future investigations into ideal diagnostic control targets regimens needed.
