Background: Keratoconus (KCN) is a progressive corneal ectasia that manifests at young age and significantly impacts vision quality of life. Early diagnosis allows for effective treatment with collagen crosslinking, yet there lack screening methods. This research aims to screen adolescents adults this sight-threatening disease using quick tomography mapping. Methods: prospective cross-sectional study being conducted Johns Hopkins Aramco Healthcare in Saudi Arabia, focusing on subjects aged 13-23. We are presenting the data from our as internal pilot data. Bilateral imaging Pentacam HR (Oculus, Wetzlar, Germany), utilizing Scheimpflug tomography, was performed. Historical allergies, eye rubbing, KCN, family history, previous surgery, contact lens use were collected. The Belin Ambrosio Enhanced Ectasia Display total D value served an objective criterion suspect KCN (SKCN) diagnosis. Results: In 110 participants, identified 2.75% participants SKCN 11.93%. Systemic allergies or eczema reported by 2.80%, no cases groups. Eye rubbing behavior observed 5.50%, highest prevalence (33.30%) group. A history found 21.10%, having (30.80%). Conclusion: restricted population reveals significant rate 2.75%. condition, easily detected treatable highlights need larger studies determine disease's true prevalence. Efficient programs tailored regional essential early detection intervention.

Purpose: To evaluate the short- and mid-term clinical outcomes of corneal allogeneic intrastromal ring segments (CAIRS) assess their efficacy safety in keratoconus treatment. Methods: Case series 79 eyes from 71 patients with who underwent femtosecond-assisted CAIRS implantation at Adolphe de Rothschild Hospital Foundation, Noémie Institute. Preoperative postoperative examinations were conducted 3 6 months. Anterior segment optical coherence tomography aberrometric pachymetric analyses performed each visit. Visual, refractive, topographic parameters extracted. Results: Corrected distance visual acuity improved by 1, 2, lines or more 33%, 44%, 52% cases, respectively. Significant improvements observed K1, K2, Km, Kmax, astigmatism, sphere, cylinder, spherical equivalent, total root mean square, higher-order aberrations, vertical coma, aberrations (all P < 0.01 0.05). Eleven (13.9%) dissatisfied outcomes. In addition, 9 (13.65%) experienced a loss corrected months postoperatively (6 lost 1 line, 2 lines), yet remained satisfied results because refraction uncorrected vision. Conclusions: This study is largest to date evaluating implantations highlights as promising treatment for keratoconus.

Standardową metodą terapeutyczną jest cross-linking (CXL), który oferuje różnorodne techniki leczenia dostosowane do zaawansowania choroby. Celem niniejszego przeglądu zebranie i omówienie najczęściej stosowanych metod CXL w sposób, ułatwi lekarzom dobór najbardziej odpowiedniego planu terapeutycznego, uwzględniającego indywidualne potrzeby pacjenta. To assess the fitting process and clinical feasibility of a novel large diameter rigid gas-permeable (RGP) corneal contact lens (CL) presenting regular or reverse geometry for managing keratoconus (KC). The was designed to rest on peripheral cornea vault over cone, aiming enhance visual quality, comfort, physiology. 32 KC patients across all severity stages, including central, paracentral cones enrolled. Lens parameters were customized from measurements obtained via Oculus Pentacam HR tomography, mainly based sagittal height accounting adequate tear film clearance. Visual acuity (VA), contrast sensitivity (CS), ocular complications, user satisfaction evaluated at baseline, one week three months wear. Twenty-four (41 eyes) fitted completed 3-month follow-up (median age 28.5 years, 9 females). A median 2 trial lenses per eye (interquartile range 4.5) needed during process. Significant improvements in VA (baseline: 0.32 logMAR; months: 0.01 p = 0.002) CS (p < 0.001 frequencies) observed compared baseline values. Ocular complications remained below significance, with superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis showing significant reduction time 0.001). Patient high, daily wear 9.5 h. Most users (79.2%) reported consistent comfort their CLs. RGP CL demonstrated comparable efficacy existing designs, offering high levels improved vision minimal complications.

The purposes of this study were to quantify the impact degraded binocularity in keratoconus and its improvement with rigid contact lenses on a depth-related visuomotor task that emulates complex activities daily living; determine whether performance may be predicted from psychophysical estimates stereo threshold. Participants instructed pass metal loop around wire convoluted depth. Error rate speed measured 26 controls, 30 cases best-corrected spectacles, subset 17 lenses, 10 uncorrected myopes acuity thresholds comparable keratoconic cohort. Stereo determined using random-dot stimuli. Binocular error rates lower than monocular for myopes, better-performing half (p < 0.001, each), but not worst-performing = 0.07). improved 0.001). Within each cohort, was poorly correlated threshold (r2 0.12, each). Monocular speeds significantly binocular controls 0.003) Degraded limit ability perform tasks. A portion loss overcome by lenses. attributes are, however, predictable thresholds.
