Psychobiotics
are
live
microorganisms
that,
when
administered
in
adequate
amounts,
confer
mental
health
benefits
to
the
host.
Several
clinical
studies
have
demonstrated
significant
from
psychobiotic
administration,
making
them
an
emerging
topic
food
science.
Certain
strains
of
Lactobacillus,
Bifidobacterium,
Streptococcus,
Escherichia,
and
Enterococcus
species
known
for
their
ability
modulate
gut-brain
axis
provide
benefits.
Proposed
action
mechanisms
include
production
neuroactive
compounds
or
precursors,
which
may
cross
blood-brain
barrier,
transported
by
extracellular
vesicles.
However,
there
is
a
lack
vivo
evidence
directly
confirming
these
mechanisms,
although
indirect
recent
suggest
potential
pathways
further
investigation.
To
advance
our

We
identified
strains
of
lactic
acid
bacteria
from
fermented
potherb
mustard
that
showed
excellent
fermentation
properties.

starter
cultures
