Type 2 diabetes (T2D) is a chronic metabolic disorder with heterogeneous etiology encompassing societal and behavioral risk factors in addition to genetic environmental susceptibility. The cardiovascular consequences of account for more than two-thirds mortality among people T2D. Not only does T2D shorten life expectancy, but it also lowers quality associated extremely high health expenditures since diabetic complications raise both direct indirect healthcare costs. An increasing body research indicates connection between gut microbial traits, as numerous alterations the intestinal microorganisms have been noted pre-diabetic individuals. These include pro-inflammatory bacterial patterns, increased permeability, endotoxemia, hyperglycemia-favoring conditions, such alteration glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) secretion. Restoring homeostasis can be very beneficial preventing co-treating improving antidiabetic therapy outcomes. This review summarizes characteristics "diabetic" microbiota metabolites produced by species that worsen or ameliorate progression, suggesting microbiota-targeted strategies restore eubiosis regulate blood glucose. Nutritional supplementation, diet, physical exercise are known play important roles T2D, here their effects on discussed, non-pharmacological approaches greatly help management highlighting importance tailoring treatments individual needs.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a heterogeneous tumor associated with several risk factors, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) emerging as an important cause of tumorigenesis. Due to the obesity epidemics, occurrence NAFLD has significantly increased nearly 30% prevalence worldwide. HCC often arises in background chronic (CLD), such nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and cirrhosis. Gut microbiome (GM) alterations have been linked progression development, investigations reporting crucial role for gut-liver axis microbial metabolites promoting CLD. Moreover, GM affects homeostasis, energy status, immune microenvironment, influencing response immunotherapy interesting therapeutic implications. In this review, we summarize main changes derived (e.g., short-chain acids bile acids) occurring patients progression, emphasizing their potential early diagnostic biomarkers prognostic tools. We discuss weight loss effects diet-based interventions healthy lifestyles treatment patients, highlighting impact on restoration intestinal barrier structure. also describe encouraging preclinical findings modulation improve functions CLD, boost antitumor probiotic supplementations or anti-hypercholesterolemic drug treatment), ultimately delay HCC. The development safe effective strategies that target holds promise cancer prevention treatment, especially if personalized options will be considered.

Background/Objective: This study investigated the relationship between composition of oral microbiota and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) in general population. Methods: In total, 712 participants a health check-up project were divided into four patterns by principal component analysis cluster analysis; they included Neisseria, Streptococcus, Fusobacterium, Veillonella groups. The Neisseria group had largest number patients was used as reference to compare incidence MASLD cardiometabolic criteria with other Results: multivariate analysis, risk factor for independent compared group. correlation bacterial species MASLD-related items showed that negatively correlated controlled attenuation parameters, body mass index, waist circumference, hemoglobin A1c, alanine aminotransferase, fatty index. positive blood pressure, triglycerides, aspartate gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, negative high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. contrast, Streptococcus Fusobacterium groups not clearly associated MASLD. Conclusions: Maintaining hygiene preventing periodontitis may contribute extending healthy lifespan.
