Emerging evidence has indicated a possible link between attenuation of contractility in aortic smooth muscle cells and pathogenesis dissection, as revealed through comprehensive, multi-omic analyses familial thoracic aneurysm dissection models. While L-type voltage-gated calcium channels have been extensively investigated for their roles contraction, more recent investigations suggested that downregulation T-type channels, rather than counterparts, may be closely associated with impaired observed vascular cells. This review provides detailed examination highlighting structure, electrophysiology, biophysics, expression patterns, functional roles, potential mechanisms which contribute to reduced contractile function. Furthermore, the application approaches investigating is discussed.
