Cardiorespiratory phase synchronization (CRPS) is defined as the stable occurrence of n heartbeats within m respiratory cycles according to n:m locking ratio (PLR). Since CRPS an intermittent phenomenon where different regimes and epochs unlocking can alternate same recording, index ideally should assess all potential PLRs present in recording. However, traditional approaches compute (SYNC%) over a single PLR, namely one that maximizes CRPS. In work, we tested assessing total percentage coupled inspiratory onset regardless (SYNC% sum ) compared its efficacy more SYNC%. Analysis was carried out cohort 25 male amateur cyclists (age: 20-40 yrs) undergoing muscle training (IMT) at intensities. assessed before after IMT protocol, during experimental condition known modify CRPS, active standing (STAND). We found moderate intensity 60% maximal pressure, SYNC% could detect decrease following STAND. This result not visible using Therefore, stress significant presence athletes importance accounting for multiple analysis.Clinical Relevance— Multiple contribute significantly cardiorespiratory control especially intensity.

There is a lack of studies on non-linear heart rate (HR) variability in athletes. We aimed to assess the usefulness short-term HR dynamics and asymmetry parameters evaluate neural modulation cardiac activity based non-stationary RR interval series by studying their changes during sympathetic nervous system stimulation (isometric handgrip test) post-stimulation recovery professional ski mountaineers. The correlation between respiratory (RespRate) also duration career was analyzed. Short-term (5 min) ultra-short-term (1 rates patterns with no variations (0V), number acceleration runs length 1 (AR1), Porta's Index were greater, whereas Guzik's (GI) smaller compared rest. GI increased AR1 decreased recovery. Greater increases RMSSD associated greater decreases RespRate from rest 0V (Max-min method) but decelerations variance accelerations long-term variance. shorter duration. these longer Changes measures asymmetry, calculated RRi time induced recovery, reflected sympathovagal shift condition-related alterations athletes who practice mountaineering.

The relationship between brain activity and respiration is recently attracting increasing attention, despite being studied for a long time. Respiratory modulation was evidenced in both single-cell field potentials. Among EEG intracranial measurements, the effect of prevailingly on amplitude/power all frequency bands. Since phases oscillations received less we applied our previously published carrier (CF) mathematical model human alpha group 10 young healthy participants wake drowsy states, using 14-channel average reference montage. approach allows more precise calculation CF phase shifts (CFPS) than any individual Fourier component, by 2-s moving window, validated new method studied, first time, temporal waveforms CFPS(t) their oscillatory content through FFT (CFPS(t)). Although not appearing equally channel pairs every subject, clear peak respiratory region, 0.21-0.26 Hz, observed (max at 0.22 Hz). When five with most prominent averaged amplitudes Hz were plotted topographic distributions changed significantly-from longitudinal, connecting frontal posterior channels state to topographically split two separate regions-frontal state. In addition, state, 0.22-Hz decreased pairs, while statistically significant reduction obtained 20/91 (22%) pairs. These results potentially evidence, shifts, as well impact wakeful consciousness oscillations.

Introduction: Joint symbolic analysis (JSA) can be utilized to describe interactions between time series while accounting for scales and nonlinear features. JSA is based on the computation of rate occurrence joint patterns built after symbolization. Lagged (LJSA) obtained from more classical by introducing a delay/lead over two combined form scheme, thus monitoring coordinated at different lags. Methods: In present study, we applied LJSA assessment cardiorespiratory coupling (CRC) heart period (HP) variability respiratory activity (R) in 19 healthy subjects (age: 27-35 years; 8 males, 11 females) during spontaneous breathing (SB) controlled (CB). The R CB was selected indistinguishable that SB, namely, 15 breaths·minute-1 (CB15), or slower than 10 (CB10), but both cases, very rapid were known present. ability approach follow variations strength tested unidirectionally bidirectionally coupled stochastic process using surrogate data test null hypothesis uncoupling. Results: We found that: i) proved HP significantly any experimental condition, not likely occur specific lag; ii) CB10 reduced CRC fastest increasing intermediate scales, leaving overall unvaried; iii) despite exhibiting similar rates sinus arrhythmia, SB CB15 induced interactions; iv) no dominant temporal scheme observed with relevant contributions either leading lagging R. Discussion: useful methodology explore HP-R dynamic shifts scales.

MRI-related anxiety in healthy participants is often characterized by a dominant breathing frequency at around 0.32 Hz (19 breaths per minute, bpm) the beginning but few cases also end of scanning. Breathing waves 19 bpm are observed patients with independently scanned body part. In medically intractable epilepsy and intracranial electroencephalography (iEEG), spontaneous through nose varied between 0.24 0.37 (~19 bpm). Remarkable similarity rates during different types states (e.g., epilepsy, cancer, claustrophobia) preferred bpm), which predicted binary hierarchy model Klimesch. This elevated most likely reflects an emotional processing state, energy demands minimized due to harmonic coupling ratio other brain–body oscillations.
