Cardiorespiratory phase synchronization (CRPS) is defined as the stable occurrence of n heartbeats within m respiratory cycles according to n:m locking ratio (PLR). Since CRPS an intermittent phenomenon where different regimes and epochs unlocking can alternate same recording, index ideally should assess all potential PLRs present in recording. However, traditional approaches compute (SYNC%) over a single PLR, namely one that maximizes CRPS. In work, we tested assessing total percentage coupled inspiratory onset regardless (SYNC% sum ) compared its efficacy more SYNC%. Analysis was carried out cohort 25 male amateur cyclists (age: 20-40 yrs) undergoing muscle training (IMT) at intensities. assessed before after IMT protocol, during experimental condition known modify CRPS, active standing (STAND). We found moderate intensity 60% maximal pressure, SYNC% could detect decrease following STAND. Homeostatic regulation plays a fundamental role in maintenance of multicellular life. At different scales and biological systems, this principle allows better understanding organization. Consequently, growing interest studying cause-effect relations between physiological systems has emerged, such as the fields cardiovascular cardiorespiratory regulations. For this, mathematical approaches Granger causality (GC) were applied to field physiology last 20 years, overcoming limitations previous offering new perspectives cardiac, vascular respiratory homeostatic interactions. In clinical practice, continuous recording data hospitalized patients or by telemetry opened applicability for these with potential early diagnostic prognostic information. review, we describe theoretical background based on linear GC time frequency domains detect couplings series RR intervals, blood pressure respiration. Interestingly, tools help contribution negative feedback anticipatory feedforward mechanisms controls. We also experimental results tools, consolidating evidence coupling studies. Finally, propose allowing complete interactions well interplay brain high integrative view regulation.

The properties of cardio-respiratory coupling (CRC) are affected by various pathological conditions related to the cardiovascular and/or respiratory systems. In heart failure, one most common cardiac conditions, degree CRC changes primarily depend on type heart-rhythm alterations. this work, we investigated in heart-failure patients, applying measures from information theory, i.e., Granger Causality (GC), Transfer Entropy (TE) and Cross (CE), quantify directed causality between (RR interval) (Resp) time series. Patients were divided into three groups depending their rhythm (sinus presence low/high number ventricular extrasystoles) studied also after resynchronization therapy (CRT), distinguishing responders non-responders therapy. information-theoretic analysis bidirectional interactions HF patients revealed strong effect nonlinear components RR (high Resp series (respiratory sinus arrhythmia) as well causal interactions. We showed that GC a linear model measure is not sensitive both only free TE CE may them. CRT mainly exhibit unchanged asymmetry values, with statistically significant dominance flow over opposite Resp, before CRT. was Our results indicate success corresponding transfer signal quantified at baseline measurements, which could contribute better selection for

Individuals diagnosed with systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) are considered risk groups for COVID-19 severity. This study assessed differences in cardiac autonomic function (CAF) and functional capacity (FC) SAH individuals without infection compared to post-COVID-19. Participants comprised 40 aged 31 80 years old, grouped as (G1; n = 21) (G2; 19). CAF was via heart rate variability (HRV), measuring R-R intervals during a 10-min supine period. Four HRV indices were analyzed through symbolic analysis: 0V%, 1V%, 2LV%, 2UV%. FC assessment performed by 6-min walk test (6MWT). G1 G2 showed no significant terms of age, anthropometric parameters, clinical presentation, medication use. exhibited superior 6MWT performance, covering more distance (522 ± 78 vs. 465 59 m, p < 0.05). Specifically, demonstrated moderate positive correlation between the 2LV% index (r 0.58; Shorter walking distances observed However, did not find impaired post-COVID-19 those without. suggests that while impacted FC, remained relatively stable this population.

We compare CRC, i.e., the reciprocal interaction between cardiac and respiratory systems, healthy pregnant nonpregnant women for first time. Although CRC is present in both groups, reduced during pregnancy; there less synchronization maternal activity a smaller response heart rate to inhalations exhalations. Stratifying this analysis by sleep stages reveals that differences are most prominent deep sleep.

As differential physiological responses to hypoxic exercise between adults and children remain poorly understood, we aimed comprehensively characterise cardiorespiratory muscle oxygenation submaximal maximal in normobaric hypoxia the two groups. Following familiarisation, fifteen (Age = 9 ± 1 years) 22 2 completed graded cycling sessions exhaustion a randomized single-blind manner normoxia (NOR; FiO2 20.9) (HYP; 13.0) exercises conditions. Age-specific workload increments were 25 W·3 min-1 for 40 adults. Gas exchange vastus lateralis parameters measured continuously via metabolic cart near-infrared spectroscopy, respectively. Hypoxia provoked significant decreases power output PMAX (children 29%; 16% (F 39.3; p < 0.01)) at gas threshold 10%; adults:18% 8.08; both Comparable changes noted most respiratory similar outputs Children, however, demonstrated, lower PETCO2 throughout test during maintenance of V˙CO2 output. These data indicate that, while acute are comparable adults, there exist age-related select parameters.

Background: Understanding the responses of cardio and respiratory systems during exercise, as well their coupling in post-exercise recovery, is important for prescription exercise programs physically recreative subjects. Aim: In this work, we aimed to set up an adjusted experiment evaluate relations changes parameters obtained from analysis cardiac signals under three physiological conditions: relaxation, recovery. Material Methods: Simultaneously recorded ECG (RR intervals) signal bicycle ergometry until submaximal heart rate (HR), recovery 10 healthy men were analyzed. The included consecutive phases 3 min duration with a constant workload. Parasympathetic control (RMSSD), breathing frequency (BF), cycle amplitude (RCA) calculated. Anthropometric data also collected. Results: Based on time series analysis, our results show that: (1) increase HR was related reduction variability RMSSD, while BF RCA, (2) RCA significantly decreased, RMSSD had biphasic response. multiple linear regressions showed that averaged HR, segments determined by several calculated collected parameters. Conclusions: RR interval conditions relaxation along anthropometric data, contributed complexity cardiopulmonary after males.

Introduction: This study examined the effects of Body Mass Index (BMI) on Cardiorespiratory Capacity (CRC) and explored relationship between CRC Academic Performance (AP) among female medical ex-students at Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz University (PSAU). Understanding these associations could highlight role physical fitness in academic success. Methods: A sample 150 ex-students, aged 23.3±0.6 years, was categorized into normal weight (BMI 18.5–24.9 kg/m²) overweight 25–29.9 groups. BMI calculated to determine status, assessed using 20-m shuttle run test (VO2max), AP evaluated through grades (AG) abilities (AA) Spanish Test Educational Abilities. Statistical analyses included independent t-tests Pearson’s correlation. Results: Normal-weight participants demonstrated significantly higher (VO2max = 55.3 ±4.9 mL.kg⁻¹.min⁻¹) than (50.8 ±4.2 mL.kg⁻¹.min⁻¹, p=0.03). Additionally, normal-weight scored both AA (58.82 ±9.7 vs. 59.64 ±10.04, p=0.04) AG (3.4 ±0.6 3.7 ±0.5, p=0.032). negatively correlated with (r -0.20, p=0.024), while positively 0.18, p=0.015) 0.24, p=0.043).Conclusions: Higher associated better performance, increased lower CRC. The findings suggest that promoting may be beneficial for success students PSAU.
