The current deficit model of autism leaves us ill-equipped to connect with persons on the spectrum, thus creating disparities and inequalities in all aspects social exchange which autistic individuals try participate. Traditional research models also tend follow clinical definition impairments communication emotions without offering personalized therapeutic help individuals. There is a critical need redefine aim co-adapting connecting this exponentially growing sector society. Here, we hypothesize that there are emotional competencies hidden movements' nuances escape naked eye. Further, posit can extract such information using highly scalable means as videos from smartphones. Using phone/tablet app, recorded brief face 126 (56 spectrum autism) assess their facial micro-motions during several probes relation resting state. We extracted micro-movement spikes (MMSs) motion speed along 68 points OpenFace grid empirically determined continuous family probability distribution functions best characterizing MMSs maximum likelihood sense. analyzed action units across determine presence intensity cohort. find Gamma describes empirical variability offers parameter spaces automatically classify participants. Unambiguous separation at rest denotes marked differences stochastic patterns between neurotypicals amenable further separate according required level support. Both groups have comparable present probes. They, however, operate within ranges fall outside our perceptual umwelt and, such, do not meet expectations prior experiences. cannot detect them. This work new methods features begin path augmenting perception include those signatures enhance capacity for interactions, communication, support theirs.
