Many reports in the last 15 years have assessed changes auditory brainstem response (ABR) waveform after insults such as noise exposure. Common include reductions peak 1 amplitude and relative latencies of later peaks, well increased central gain, which is reflected by a increase amplitudes peaks compared to 1. experimenters identify troughs visually assess their heights latencies, laborious process when waveforms are collected 5 dB increments throughout hearing range for each frequency condition. ABSTRACT Introduction Previous studies have investigated listening effort in tinnitus patients compared to healthy individuals. These reported similar pure tone hearing thresholds between groups but did not investigate possible peripheral auditory dysfunction, which could affect the central system and increase even when are within normal range. This study aimed presence of by controlling for function (PAF). Methods included 16 chronic 23 matched controls, both with thresholds. The subjects were assessed using 0.125–20 kHz pure‐tone audiometry, a visual analogue scale (VAS), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), Tinnitus Handicap Inventory (THI), matrix test, brainstem response (ABR), electroencephalography (EEG). EEG alpha band activity was recorded from parietal electrodes (P3, P4, P z ). Results power during encoding phase sentence presentation less than that control group. We found higher VAS scores participants. find significant differences test scores, ABR amplitude, or absolute latency values groups. change THI show correlation. Conclusion To best our knowledge, this is first controls while PAF. may expend more listening‐related despite having PAF

This study was performed to assess identifiable abnormalities in tinnitus patients with normal hearing. The medical records of subjective non-pulsatile hearing confirmed by conventional pure-tone audiometry who visited our clinic between March 2020 and May 2022 were reviewed. Abstract We performed magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) on healthy individuals with tinnitus and no hearing loss ( n = 16) vs. a matched control group 17) to further elucidate the role of excitatory inhibitory neurotransmitters in tinnitus. Two-dimensional J-resolved (2D-JPRESS) was applied disentangle Glutamate (Glu) from Glutamine estimate GABA levels two bilateral voxels primary auditory cortex. Results indicated lower Glu concentration (large effect) right cortex (medium left group. Within group, positively correlated loudness measures. More than 5% of the global population suffers from disabling hearing loss, primarily sensorineural loss (SNHL). SNHL is often caused by factors such as vascular disorders, viral infections, ototoxic drugs, systemic inflammation, age-related labyrinthine membrane degeneration, and noise-induced (NIHL). NIHL, in particular, leads to changes blood-labyrinth-barrier (BLB) physiology, increased permeability, various health issues, including cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, neurological adverse reproductive outcomes. Recent advances neuromodulation vector-based approaches offer hope for overcoming biological barriers BLB development innovative treatments. Computational methods, molecular docking, dynamics simulations, QSAR/QSPR analysis with machine/deep learning algorithms, network pharmacology, hold potential identifying drug candidates optimizing their interactions transporters, glutamate transporter. This paper provides an overview focusing on its pathophysiology; impact ion channels, structures; associated symptoms, comorbidities, emerging therapeutic approaches. advancements strategies show great promise BLB, facilitating treatment options. The middle ear muscle reflex (MEMR) in humans is a bilateral contraction of the stapedial response to moderate-to-high intensity acoustic stimuli. Clinically, MEMR thresholds have been used for differential diagnosis otopathologies decades. More recently, changes amplitude or threshold proposed as an assessment noise-induced synaptopathy, subclinical form cochlear damage characterized by suprathreshold hearing problems that occur function inner hair cell (IHC) synaptic loss, including hearing-in-noise deficits, tinnitus, and hyperacusis. In animal models, wideband immittance correlated with synaptopathy; however, studies shown more varied results. discrepancies observed across could reflect heterogeneity synaptopathy than effects parametric differences relative sensitivity measurement.
