Human action perception involves processing dynamic information in its temporal order. However, previous studies investigating have not yet distinguished between the presence of and order which unfolds within context a single action. Using 3-T functional MRI, we presented participants with brief, single-actor, whole-body actions viewed either as still images, intact videos, or videos consisting short fragments temporally scrambled. Regions classically associated showed higher activity for compared stimuli, regardless continuity stimuli. two clusters right inferior parietal lobule (IPL) differentiated scrambled videos. Specifically, angular gyrus (AG) preference over ones, while supramarginal (SMG) opposite pattern. Combined literature, argue role IPL temporospatial buffer, SMG on timescales AG longer timescales. Our results underscore need to consider separately investigations perception.
