Abstract The gut microbiota is critical to human health, such as digesting nutrients, forming the intestinal epithelial barrier, regulating immune function, producing vitamins and hormones, metabolites interact with host. Meanwhile, increasing evidence indicates that has a strong correlation occurrence, progression treatment of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). In patients CVDs corresponding risk factors, composition ratio have significant differences compared their healthy counterparts. Therefore, dysbiosis, microbiota-generated metabolites, related signaling pathway may serve explanations for some mechanisms about occurrence development CVDs. Several studies also demonstrated many traditional latest therapeutic treatments are associated its generated pathways. Given information, we summarized advances in current research regarding effect on main CVDs, highlighted roles several introduced promising microbiota. this review mainly focuses exploring role potential which eventually provide better solutions well prevention

With changing lifestyles, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become the most prevalent worldwide. A substantial increase in incidence, mortality, and associated burden of NAFLD-related advanced is expected. Currently, initial diagnosis NAFLD still based on ultrasound there no approved treatment method. Lipid-lowering drugs, vitamin supplementation, lifestyle improvement treatments are commonly used clinical practice. However, lipid-lowering drugs can produce poor patient compliance specific adverse effects. Therefore, exploration bio-diagnostic markers active lead compounds for development innovative urgently needed. More more studies have reported anti-NAFLD effects mechanisms natural products (NPs), which an important source new drug to treat due their high activity low side At present, berberine silymarin been by US FDA enter phase IV studies, demonstrating potential NPs against NAFLD. Studies found that regulation lipid metabolism, insulin resistance, oxidative stress, inflammation-related pathways may play roles process. continuous updating technical means scientific theories, in-depth research targets provide possibilities find drugs. As we know, FXR agonists, PPARα dual CCR2/5 inhibitors gradually coming stage Whether exert regulating these or some unknown remains be further studied. study reviewed targets. Some works discovery docking were also discussed. It hoped this review reference values non-invasive diagnostic clinic.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common cause of dementia in elderly people; currently, there no efficient treatment. Considering increase life expectancy worldwide AD rates are predicted to enormously, and thus search for new drugs urgently needed. A great amount experimental clinical evidence indicated that a complex disorder characterized by widespread neurodegeneration CNS, with major involvement cholinergic system, causing progressive cognitive decline dementia. The current treatment, based on hypothesis, only symptomatic mainly involves restoration acetylcholine (ACh) levels through inhibition acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Since introduction Amaryllidaceae alkaloid galanthamine as an antidementia drug 2001, alkaloids have been one attractive groups searching drugs. present review aims comprehensively summarize various origins multi-target compounds AD. From this point view, promising seem be β-carboline harmine several isoquinoline since they can simultaneously inhibit key enzymes AD's pathophysiology. However, topic remains open further research detailed mechanisms action synthesis potentially better semi-synthetic analogues.

Vascular calcification is a pathological chronic condition characterized by calcium crystal deposition in the vessel wall and recurring event atherosclerosis, kidney disease, diabetes. The lack of effective therapeutic treatments opened research to natural products, which have shown promising potential inhibiting process different experimental models. This study investigated anti-calcifying effects Quercetin Berberine extracts on vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) treated with an inorganic phosphate solution for 7 days. has highest activity, as revealed intracellular quantitative assay morphological analysis. Confocal microscopy downregulation RUNX2, key marker calcified phenotype, was otherwise upregulated VSMCs. To investigate anti-inflammatory activity Quercetin, culture media were subjected immunometric assays quantify levels IL-6 TNF-α, caspase-1 activity. As expected, VSMCs released large quantity inflammatory mediators, significantly decreasing presence Quercetin. In summary, our findings suggest that counteracted attenuating VSMC phenotypic switch reducing response. opinion, these preliminary vitro could be starting point further investigations into beneficial dietary supplementation against calcification.

Sepsis is a heterogenous and highly complex clinical syndrome, which caused by infectious or noninfectious factors. Acute kidney injury (AKI) one of the most common severe complication sepsis, it associated with high mortality poor outcomes. Recent evidence has identified that autophagy participates in pathophysiology sepsis-associated AKI. Despite use antibiotics, rate still at an extremely level patients sepsis. Besides traditional treatments, many natural products, including phytochemicals their derivatives, are proved to exert protective effects through multiple mechanisms, such as regulation autophagy, inhibition inflammation, fibrosis, apoptosis, etc. Accumulating also shown pharmacological inhibitors might have potential therapeutic sepsis-induced Hence, understanding AKI may help develop novel therapeutics attenuate complications sepsis lower rate. This review updates recent progress underlying pathophysiological mechanisms AKI, focuses specifically on summarizes inhibitors.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a complex disease that has become major global health concern. Given the efficacy of antidiabetic drugs, pharmacological therapy considered first-line treatment T2DM; however, due to their potential side effects and high costs, new cost-effective treatments with minimal are needed. Medicinal plants have been used for centuries as part traditional medicine treat T2DM. Among these, fenugreek, cinnamon, Curcuma longa, berberine, Momordica charantia demonstrated different degrees hypoglycemic activity in clinical studies animal models. Therefore, aim this review synthesize mechanisms action five medicinal plants, well experimental evidence from published literature.

Gastric cancer (GC) has high incidence rates and constitutes a common cause of mortality. Despite advances in treatment, GC remains challenge therapy which is why novel treatment strategies are needed. The interest natural compounds increased significantly recent years because their numerous biological activities, including anti-cancer action. isolation the bioactive from Coptis chinensis Franch was carried out with Centrifugal Partition Chromatography (CPC) technique, using biphasic solvent system composed chloroform (CHCl3)—methanol (MeOH)—water (H2O) (4:3:3, v/v) an addition hydrochloric acid trietylamine. identity isolated alkaloids confirmed resolution HPLC-MS chromatograph. phytochemical constituents such as berberine, jatrorrhizine, palmatine coptisine inhibited viability growth gastric cell lines ACC-201 NCI-N87 dose-dependent manner, showing highest efficacy revealed MTT BrdU assays, respectively. Flow cytometry analysis coptisine-induced population cells sub-G1 phase apoptosis. combination cisplatin at fixed-ratio 1:1 exerted synergistic additive interactions NCI-N87, respectively, determined by means isobolographic analysis. In vivo assay, safe for developing zebrafish dose equivalent to active vitro, but higher doses (greater than 10 times) caused morphological abnormalities larvae. Our findings provide theoretical foundation further studies on more detailed mechanisms action that inhibit survival vitro settings.
