Heart rate variability (HRV) is the change in time intervals between heart beats, reflecting autonomic nervous system's ability to adapt psychological and physiological demands. Slow breathing enhances parasympathetic activity, increasing HRV.

Although anxiety is a common psychological condition, its symptoms are related to cardiopulmonary strain which can cause palpitation, dyspnea, dizziness, and syncope. Severe be disabling lead cardiac events such as those seen in Takotsubo cardiomyopathy. Since torso stiffness stress response unpredictable situations or unexpected outcomes, studying the biomechanics behind it may provide better understanding of pathophysiology on circulation, especially venous impedance. Any degree would limit return, turn drops output because heart pump only what receives. Various methods habits used relieve seem reduce stiffness. Humans large obligatory bipedal upright primates thus need use carefully for smooth activities with an accurate prediction. The nature human activity itself seems contribute due needed using very unstable spine. Proper planning actions prediction outcomes self non-self critical achieving motor control ventilation activities. Many conditions linked errors likely various degrees incomplete learning unsatisfactory execution actions, will ultimately anxiety. Modifying environmental factors improve predictability important step treating benefit playful aerobic proper breathing from modulation enhancement central circulation resulting prevention negative effect system.

BACKGROUND Transient heart rate variability decreases independent of bodily movement (additional reductions; AddHRVr) potentially reflect moments psychophysiological vulnerability. OBJECTIVE We applied this measure by means wearables in everyday life to trigger low-threshold 1-min interventions with the aim stabilize autonomic function and relieve perceived stress ruminative thoughts. METHODS In two pre-registered micro-randomized trials participants underwent a 1-day calibration period derive individualized settings, then received AddHRVr-triggered random prompts throughout following 3 days asking for rumination. Study 1, N = 60 slow breathing intervention (0.1 Hz resonance breathing) each prompt 2, 49 were an external attention mindful intervention, respectively. RESULTS Following both studies, thoughts significantly declined irrespective kind intervention. resulted stronger increase HRV during slow-paced elevated time frame 10 minutes (in contrast prompts). CONCLUSIONS Both studies show very first that AddHRVr algorithm can be used brief just function, thus promoting cardiac health.
