Abstract This study investigates the combustion behavior, emissions, and aerosol production of four plant species: Laurus nobilis , Cistus monspeliensis Photinia fraseri Cupressus sempervirens . The Heat Release Rate (HRR) Smoke Production (SPR) were measured, revealing that had highest HRR longest flame duration due to its higher bulk density. Emission Factors (EFs) for key compounds such as CO₂, CO, NO, aerosols showed significant variation by species. Aerosol analysis indicated all plants primarily emitted fine particles, with majority being ultrafine particles (PM 0.1 ), particularly in 25–130‐nm range. Particle size distributions bimodal number but monomodal volume. These findings highlight impact characteristics on fire behavior implications understanding dynamics wildland–urban interfaces.

Wildfire smoke (WFS) is a mixture of respirable particulate matter, environmental gases, and other hazardous pollutants that originate from the unplanned burning arid vegetation during wildfires. The increasing size frequency recent wildfires has escalated public occupational health concerns regarding WFS inhalation, by either individuals living nearby downstream an active fire or wildland firefighters workers face unavoidable exposure because their profession. In this review, we first synthesize current evidence environmental, controlled, interventional human studies, to highlight positive associations between inhalation cardiovascular morbidity mortality. Motivated these findings, discuss preventative measures suggest interventions mitigate impact We then review animal cell studies call attention on pathophysiological processes support deterioration tissues organs in response inhalation. Acknowledging challenges integrating across independent sources, contextualize laboratory-scale approaches according biological they model offer suggestions for ensuring relevance condition. Noting are significant contributors ambient air pollution, compare responses triggered those harmful pollutants. also how may trigger mechanisms have been proposed as mediators adverse effects upon pollution. finally conclude highlighting research areas demand further consideration. Overall, aspire work serve catalyst regulatory initiatives community alleviate risk firefighters.

Abstract Wildfire smoke (WFS) is an urgent and rapidly growing threat to global health. Aside from obvious threats pulmonary function, increases in cardiac abnormalities or myocardial infarction have been documented during WF season, but little known about the effects of WFS on cardiovascular We investigated effect nonoccupational exposure function at rest graded handgrip exercise through a case series young, healthy adults ( n = 4, 25 ± 6 years) assessed after ≥3 days bad good air quality. Peripheral estimated central blood pressures, vascular stiffness, microvascular (Near infrared spectroscopy, NIRS) were rest, rhythmic exercise. did not appear alter resting peripheral, BP, stiffness (all, p > 0.05). Slope 1 slope 2 NIRS‐vascular occlusion test (NIRS‐VOT) different between conditions The change SmO was lower 0.02, 0.62) with These preliminary findings suggest modest environmental muscle adults. Future work needed elucidate physiological changes increased risk events, perhaps exacerbated physical activity.

Since the last decades, soil erosion and wildfires are significant threats to most societies results in loss of fertile layers and, consequently, productivity. Changes moisture stability grains, both short- long-terms after a wildfire occurs, should be also considered as parameter because they play key role plant growth nutrition too. Adding conditioners helps reduce runoff nutrient losses, which is necessary for sustainable use water ecosystem services. Therefore, current research was conducted assess impacts zeolite (microporous, crystalline aluminosilicate material commonly applied commercial adsorbent catalysts) conservation treatment with diverse amounts (0, 250, 500 750 g m−2; Z0 Z1, Z2 Z3, respectively) on changes sediment yield burned soils different (250, 500, 1000 F1, F2, F3 F4, under laboratory conditions. The experiments were using rainfall simulations an intensity 50 mm h−1. showed that highest percent time (s), volume (l), (g) variables application at rates fire observed F4Z3 114.94, 76.61 82.60 %, respectively. We conclude these can useful better understanding relationships between effects considering innovative control measures nin-tested date.
