Introduction Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a growing global health issue, affecting approximately 9.1% of the world’s population. Oxidative stress believed to play key role in CKD development, with indicators such as Balance Score (OBS), Pro-Oxidant-Antioxidant (PAB), and Total Antioxidant Capacity (TAC) being particular interest. However, their association remains unclear. Methods This study conducted cross-sectional analysis using data from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2009–2018. A total 18,951 participants were included after applying specific inclusion criteria. Logistic regression models restricted cubic spline employed examine associations between these oxidative balance CKD. Subgroup interaction analyses also for further analyses. Finally, ROC curve was used assess predictive performance risk. Results After adjusting various confounding factors, higher levels OBS PAB significantly associated reduced risk (OR = 0.97, 95% CI: 0.96–0.99, P < 0.001; OR 0.94, 0.92–0.97, 0.001, respectively). The ORs highest quartiles 0.60 (95% 0.49–0.75, 0.001) 0.77 0.63–0.94, 0.013), respectively. In contrast, TAC showed no significant indicated that had superior ability (AUC 0.579) compared 0.519) 0.492). Conclusion suggests indicators, particularly PAB, are inversely risk, while link. demonstrated strongest among indicators. These findings highlight potential prevention. Further research needed confirm diverse populations explore underlying mechanisms.

Abstract Background The global rise in cognitive function impairment (CFI) parallels an aging population. While oxidative stress is considered a contributing factor, its role CFI remains underexplored. This study examines the relationship between balance score (OBS) and using 2011–2014 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data. Methods Data from 2,089 participants aged 60 above were analyzed. OBS was calculated 16 dietary 4 lifestyle components. Cognitive evaluated Consortium to Establish Registry for Alzheimer’s Disease (CERAD), Animal Fluency Test (AFT), Digit Symbol Substitution (DSST). Multivariable weighted logistic regression, restricted cubic splines (RCS), subgroup, mediation analyses assessed association CFI, adjusting age, sex, comorbidities. Sensitivity analysis tested result robustness. Results Higher significantly associated with lower risk after confounders. RCS indicated linear negative correlation CFI. Subgroup showed stronger associations non-Hispanic Black White populations. Mediation revealed Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) albumin/globulin ratio (AGR) had opposing mediating effects. confirmed stability of these findings unweighted models. Conclusion linked reduced older adults. Enhancing through diet modifications could be promising strategy maintain health.

To investigate the complex relationship between oxidative balance score (OBS), hypertension (HTN) and arterial stiffness in children adolescents utilizing data gathered from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Through NHANES (2001-2018), OBS, comprising dietary lifestyle components, was calculated categorized into tertiles. The correlation OBS HTN explored employing weighted multivariate logistic regression. Stratified analyses were further performed to evaluate associations across different subgroups. A total of 11,754 ultimately enrolled analyses. High tertiles demonstrated a consistent negative association with models. Compared lowest tertile, risk highest tertile decreased by 37% (95% CI 0.44-0.90, p = 0.011). After dividing Lifestyle exhibited significant inverse HTN, while showed no correlation. notably revealed protective impacts on males. Restricted cubic spline analysis confirmed nonlinear HTN. Moreover, elevated significantly associated ePWV, indicating potential link OBS. In summary, inversely correlated high Adopting wholesome enriched antioxidants boost may help shield risk.

Abstract Urolithiasis is a prevalent urological disorder that contributes significantly to global morbidity. This study aimed assess the anti-urolithic effects of Cymbopogon proximus (Halfa Bar) and Petroselinum crispum (parsley) seed ethanolic extract /Gum Arabic (GA) emulsion, its nanogel form against ethylene glycol (EG) ammonium chloride (AC)-induced experimental urolithiasis in rats. Rats were divided into four groups: group 1 served as normal control, 2 received EG with AC drinking water for 14 days induce urolithiasis, groups 3 4 orally administered emulsion (600 mg/kg/day) 7 days, followed by co-administration days. Urolithiatic rats exhibited significant decrease urinary excreted magnesium, non-enzymic antioxidant glutathione catalase activity. Moreover, they showed an increase oxalate crystal numbers various promoters, including calcium, oxalate, phosphate, uric acid. Renal function parameters lipid peroxidation intensified. Treatment either or elevated inhibitors, levels, activities. Reduced numbers, promoters’ excretion, renal parameters, while improving histopathological changes. it decreased deposition score expression Tumer necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) cleaved caspase-3. Notably, superior compared emulsion. (C. ) (P. extracts/GA demonstrated protective induced stones mitigating kidney dysfunction, formation, histological alterations.

Background Sarcopenia is associated with oxidative stress. The Oxidative Balance Score (OBS) commonly used to assess dietary and lifestyle exposure However, few studies in the literature have assessed correlation between sarcopenia OBS. Aim This study aimed association OBS among young middle-aged adults United States using data from National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Method Weighted logistic regression analysis was investigate based on NHANES 2011–2018. Subgroup analyses were performed observe consistency of outcomes, stability results tested sensitivity analyses. Result final sample included 5,525 American adults. A higher a lower risk sarcopenia. In fully adjusted model, second (odds ratio [OR]: 0.62, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.41, 0.94; p = 0.023), third (OR: 0.50; CI: 0.34, 0.74; < 0.001), highest quartiles 0.18; 0.11, 0.28; 0.001) risks when compared lowest quartile. consistent across both scores. Our subgroup revealed no significant differences subgroups variables interaction analysis. Sensitivity similar results. Conclusion showed that antioxidant may decrease developing Higher scores indicate greater protection against sarcopenia; however, further clinical are warranted confirm these findings.

Introduction Oxidative stress plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of chronic kidney disease (CKD). The oxidative balance score (OBS) was devised to quantify overall state, integrating pro-oxidant and antioxidant influences from both dietary intake lifestyle practices. aim this study delve into relationship between OBS CKD within adult population United States. Methods Utilizing data National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) spanning 2009–2018, we derived 16 four factors. We employed weighted multivariate regression probe link CKD. Additionally, undertook subgroup analyses applied Restricted Cubic Spline Regression (RCS) for further analyses. Results This encompassed 19,444 participants. Logistic analysis consistently demonstrated protective effect higher on In Model 3, each unit increase associated with 2% reduction risk (95% CI: 0.97–0.99, p < 0.001) 4% reduced estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) 0.95–0.98, 0.001). highest quintile (Q4) also showed significant reductions (OR: 0.66, 95% 0.53–0.82, eGFR 0.51, 0.37–0.69, 3.
