Abstract
Defence
priming
of
plants
with
natural
products
is
extensively
studied
in
the
agricultural
field
to
reduce
use
synthetic
and
copper-based
pesticides.
Previous
studies
have
shown
that
Oregano
essential
oil
vapour
(OEOV)
an
effective
agent
against
downy
mildew
(DM)
grapevine
(Vitis
vinifera
L.
cv.
Chasselas),
activating
different
transcriptomic
regulated
defence
mechanisms.
In
present
study,
we
complement
data
metabolomic
insights,
confirming
some
previous
regulating
patterns
highlighting
new
mechanisms
underlying
OEOV-induced
resistance.
A
significant
modulation
phenylpropanoid
pathway
was
noted.
The
also
confirmed
induction
oxidative
stress
response
indicated
by
up-regulation
reactive
oxygen
species
(ROS)-related
genes
a
congruent
depletion
putative
L-glutathione.
Interestingly,
OEOV
promoted
accumulation
organic
metabolites
such
as
terpenes
other
potential
phytoalexins,
which
could
potentially
contribute
innate
immune
Plasmopara
viticola.
Overall,
this
study
uncovered
diverse
influence
on
V.
DM,
enhancing
our
comprehension
mode
action
oils.
This
insight
offers
various
prospects
for
crafting
innovative
biocontrol
products,
fostering
more
dynamic
sustainable
approach
agriculture.
