Potato tubers are susceptible to wounding during post-harvest processes, leading quality decline, perishability and large economic losses. In this study, the potato cultivar, ‘Longshu No.7′, was foliar-sprayed with 3% chitosan (w/v) three times pre-harvest period after flowering evaluate effect of foliar spraying on suberization processing in wounds harvested tubers. Our results demonstrated that sprayed significantly reduced wound-induced fresh weight loss dry rot disease index by 37.34% 41.60% day 28 wounding, respectively. Foliar accelerated deposition suberin polyphenolic lignin at wound sites formation thicker cell layers. This occurred increased localized activities key enzymes pathways, including phenylalanine ammonia lyase, 4-coumaryl-coenzyme A ligase, cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase peroxidase (33.90–64.32%), as well contents cinnamic acid, sinapic flavonoids, lignins total phenolics (19.70–23.46%) wounded 7 wounding. indicated application could mitigate product damages.
