Climate change in the Mediterranean areas is increasing problems on droughts, water availability and salinization of irrigation water. These are probably some most limiting factors farming, especially vegetables production. Capsicum peppers, one valuable Spain, quite sensitive to deficit particularly salinity. The use rootstocks tolerant these abiotic stresses could be explored as a short/mid-term solution. In this work, we evaluated ability several accessions, together commercial F1 ‘Robusto’ ‘Oscos’, with cultivar ‘Herminio’ scion, under control, drought (30% decrease irrigation) salinity (5.8 dS m-1) Campo de Cartagena area (Murcia, Spain). Yield fruit weight, content, ascorbic acid content (AAC) total phenolics (TP) at unripe fully ripe stages were evaluated. Under control conditions, our did not provide extra vigour yield none showed higher performance than non-grafted (10 kg m-2) weight (215 g). However, conditions revealed that accessions might useful rootstocks, providing yields and/or size ‘Herminio’, drought, i.e. 5-7 m-2 while only achieved 4 m-2, both stress (i.e. 190-223 g vs 173 187-209 158 salinity). On average, increased levels antioxidants ripening stages, decreased them, specially AAC. Also, remarkable rootstock × treatment interactions, phenolics, enabled identifying high stresses, improving those from ‘Herminio’.

Abstract Carotenoids play essential roles in plant growth and development provide plants with a tolerance to series of abiotic stresses. In this study, the function biological significance lycopene β-cyclase, ε-cyclase, β-carotene hydroxylase, which are responsible for modification tetraterpene skeleton procedure, were isolated from Lycium chinense analyzed. The overexpression β-cyclase , ε-cyclase hydroxylase promoted accumulation total carotenoids photosynthesis enhancement, reactive oxygen species scavenging activity, proline content tobacco seedlings after exposure salt stress. Furthermore, expression carotenoid biosynthesis genes stress-related ( ascorbate peroxidase catalase superoxide dismutase pyrroline-5-carboxylate reductase ) detected showed increased gene level, strongly associated activity. After stress, endogenous abscisic acid was significantly much higher than those control plants. This research contributes new breeding aimed at obtaining stronger vitamin A content.

Rising sea levels and saltwater intrusion in aquifers pose significant challenges for South Florida agriculture, leading to increased groundwater salinity potential crop losses. Utilizing salttolerant species presents a solution saline soils regions with active intrusion. However, the effects of soil salinization through alone remains less studied. This research investigates impact short-term, below-ground stress on growth, survival, overall health commonly grown cherry tomatoes (Solanum lycopersicum). The objectives study are to: 1) determine tomato plant 2) compare nutrient content tissue exposed varying concentrations water. Established plants were NaCl solution, simulating into groundwater. Over 28 days, height, leaf chlorophyll levels, disease occurrences monitored. Sektor pertanian di wilayah pesisir mengalami kerentanan dalam produksi, terutama disebabkan oleh salinitas, dampak dari perubahan iklim. Meskipun permasalahan kemanusiaan bidang merupakan hal yang penting, data sosio-ekonomi masih terbatas. Artikel ini memberikan gambaran dan menganalisis sosial ekonomi Kabupaten Kendal untuk mengisi kesenjangan ada. Kerentanan, tantangan, peluang sektor dikumpulkan melalui wawancara semi terstruktur pada akhir tahun 2022 awal 2023 ditujukan 183 petani terdampak salinitas Kendal. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa menghadapi kerentanan, menurunnya produksi padi pendapatan petani, serta terbatasnya akses terhadap teknologi budidaya lahan salin. Sebagian besar ingin terus bertani dengan kondisi ada karena adalah mata pencaharian utama mereka. Namun, dibutuhkan penerapan berkelanjutan. Petani membutuhkan mitigasi teknis bertahan melanjutkan usaha pertaniannya. Upaya adil meningkatkan mengelola sebagai upaya keberlanjutan ketahanan sangatlah penting. Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, diperlukan sinergi antara pemangku kepentingan pusat daerah berbagai lembaga.
