Erythrotrichia (Erythropeltales, Rhodophyta) is a group of widely distributed marine epiphytic algae. With the advancement molecular biology in recent years, classification this genus has undergone significant changes, revealing several morphologically indistinguishable cryptic species. In study, we collected species from Bohai Sea coast China, proposed new species— bohanensis sp. nov. based on laboratory culture, morphological observation and phylogenetic analysis. Phylogenetic analyses, including rbc L SSU gene sequence demonstrated that clusters into an independent branch with high Maximum Likelihood (ML) bootstrap values Bayesian Inference phylogenies (BI) posterior probabilities. The characterized by unbranched, filamentous thallus exhibits both asexual sexual reproduction. main differences are primarily reflected its reproduction process. carpogonium spermatium formed expansion division vegetative cells, fertilization occurs outside thallus. establishment underscores diversity within taxon implies additional morphological, molecular, genetic information essential for more precise identification.
