This study employs bibliometric analysis and knowledge mapping to examine trends in research on phytoplankton Chinese reservoirs from 2004 2024. Utilizing the Web of Science Core Collection Database, focuses studies related reservoirs, phytoplankton, cyanophytes China. Three distinct stages evolution are identified: initial lakes eutrophication (2004–2010), a shift towards cyanobacteria blooms their ecological impacts (2010–2015), recent focus communities, carbon cycles, nutrient cycles (2015–2024). Key hotspots such as nitrogen stable isotopes, reservoir management, lakes, cyanobacterial identified. highlights growing interest environmental factors influencing ecosystems, biodiversity conservation, status assessment. These findings provide comprehensive understanding revealing hotspots, regional differences, future directions. A collaboration network among institutions authors underscores significant contributions Academy Sciences key researchers. provides foundation for research, emphasizing importance addressing eutrophication, community dynamics, ecosystem degradation reservoirs.
