Understanding genotype-specific responses to environmental stressors is vital for developing resilience strategies that ensure sustainable olive cultivation and productivity. In this work, cultivar 'Oblica' several genotypes from the island of Mljet (Croatia) were exposed short-term (21 days) salinity drought treatments. contrast other genotypes, genotype M29 as well managed maintain growth chlorophyll

The olive tree is currently cultivated worldwide, with higher incidence in Mediterranean Basin. Its climate highly favorable to the synthesis of phenolic compounds, stored leaves; their consumption has been linked a lower cancer and cardiovascular disorders for which research interest upon this feature increased last decade. This study aimed (i) review evidence about importance leaf extract (OLE) on human health physiological effect its major compounds; (ii) update state art studies conducted technological usage extract; (iii) report potential uses OLE pharmaceuticals, food production, cosmetics; (iv) prospect future clinical applications from diverse cultivars, especially metabolic inflammatory conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Overall, cultivars richer TPC, including TFC, αT, omega-3 omega-9, present main target supplementation alone or conjunction vitaminic due nutraceutical value disorders, chronic diseases, anti-aging treatments, whereas less water content might be useful substrates preservation. With regard prospects, it would great clarify specific mechanisms underlying beneficial effects neuro-immune design safer healthier nature-based medicine wide array costly prevalent metabolic-related syndromes, namely, PCOS.

Local olive germplasm of the southern Levant includes wild populations var. sylvestris and local traditional cultivars that are thought to be well-adapted region’s arid conditions. By controlling water availability, we tested response Barnea cultivar, two (MLL1 MLL7) low (100%), moderate (33%), severe (10%) evapotranspiration (ETa) Measurements stomatal conductance, relative content, stem potential, net photosynthesis showed a stronger cultivar reduced ETa conditions in comparison other three investigated groups. Additionally, when exposed 100% ETa, capacity MLL1 was significantly higher than measured MLL7. Therefore, photosynthesis, as an indicator tree productivity, can explain dominance (Souri cultivar) orchards negligible abundance MLL7 (unknown fruit-bearing tree. Considering climate change is already influencing cultivation, results this study stress potential maintaining sustainable horticulture.

Secondary metabolites in olive (Olea europaea L.) leaves constitute a complex framework wherein phenylpropanoids, terpenoids, and secoiridoids particular, serve as major contributors to plant resilience. Silicon (Si) stands mediator of defense mechanisms plants, enhancing their protective responses adaptability. A field trial on one-year-old plantlets two metabolically distinct genotypes was conducted investigate the effects foliar-applied Si phytochemical profiles locally treated leaves. Silicon’s systemic juvenile were also appraised. We accounted for intervarietal differences nutrient uptake situ measurements physiological indices. The peak summer season onset autumn chosen sampling time points. Intense conditions prompted metabolic adjustments that resulted unique each cultivar. These further significantly altered by while remaining genotype-specific, with substantial increases prominent compounds like oleuropein (105% 252%) verbascoside (62% 126%), depending genotype. As pressure from environmental factors eased, Si-mediated emerged. had limited effect profile resilient cultivar which acquired steady-state, it its more versatile counterpart, resulting progressive increase (37%) (26%) levels. extended untreated, well. While effective altering improving composition leaves, acted manner adhered genotype’s foundation. intensity constraints, along cultivar’s inherent sensitivity them, seems be tied silicon’s capacity mediate significant alterations. extent prophylactic function may therefore dependent foundation overall sensitivity, such inseparable stress intensity.
