Abstract
Drawing
upon
Darvin
and
Norton’s
(2015)
model
of
investment,
this
article
examines
how
Xing
Jimmy
(both
pseudonyms)
as
two
male
Chinese
English
a
foreign
language
learners
from
rural
migrant
backgrounds
negotiate
their
identities
assemble
social
cultural
resources
to
invest
in
autonomous
digital
literacies
for
learning
the
assertion
legitimate

urban
spaces.
Employing
connective
ethnographic
design,
study
collected
data
through
interviews,
reflexive
journals,
artifacts,
on-campus
observations.

research

Chinese

and

experiences

COVID-19
pandemic

our
daily

higher

students
