Information seeking in a time of war: coping with stress in Lithuania during the Russia/Ukraine war DOI Creative Commons

Purpose The aim of the research reported here was to determine how Lithuanian citizens engaged in information-seeking behaviour response stress caused by Russian invasion Ukraine. Design/methodology/approach An interview survey designed, using a semi-structured schedule. A convenience sample 21 participants obtained and interviews lasted between 20 70 min. schedule design guided transactional theory coping employed Perceived Stress Scale. Background/Objectives: This study examines the perception of young Romanians (aged 18–35) regarding Ukraine conflict’s impact on Romania’s national security and quality life. It focuses societal dimensions, analyzing regional international implications, alongside sentiments toward global support for Ukraine. Methods: Data were collected via structured questionnaires administered to 848 participants in 2024 747 2022. Respondents’ perceptions conflict, its influence security, direct consequences life evaluated using WHOQOL-BREF instrument. Statistical analyses (descriptive, bivariate, multivariate) employed explore variations across socio-demographic factors. Results: The findings indicate that appreciate solidarity with but remain cautious about military escalation. While conflict heightened personal insecurity, assessments revealed significant declines psychological, social, environmental indicators from 2022 2024. Variations observed based age, gender, education level, residence, rural women those lower educational attainment experiencing most pronounced impacts. This study examines the separate and joint effects of potential factors fake news dissemination. A sample 359 Romanian participants (61.3% female), aged between 18-79 years (M = 45.01; SD 15.69) filled questionnaires assessing their perceptions conflict European Union (EU) Ukraine; sharing, various socio-demographic data.
