Effectiveness and Value of Relationships in Link Worker Social Prescribing Over an 18-month Follow Up Period

Abstract
Background:
To
make
confident
referrals
to
link
worker
social
prescribing
(LWSP)
programs,
GPs
and
other
health
providers
need
evidence
of
their
overall
effectiveness
the
value
relationships
activities
that
contribute
outcomes.
This
research
aimed
examine
these
questions
in
data
collected
from
participants
a
LWSP
program
over
an
18-month
follow-up
period.
Methods:
Sixty-four
(
Mage

controlled
trial

three
timepoints:
baseline

+8-weeks

Australian and UK Perspectives on Social Prescribing Implementation Research: Theory, Measurement, Resourcing and Discovery to Ensure Health Equity

There
has
been
a
rapid
increase
in
the
delivery
of
social
prescribing
globally
recent
years.
However,
lack
theoretical
framework,
diversity
interventions
and
outcome
measures,
ongoing
resources
to
provide
services
equitably
coordinated
research
agenda
make
it
challenging
for
practitioners
know
how
best
put
into
practice.
This
paper
summarises
perspectives
from
29
UK
Australian
authors
sets
course
future
implementation
four
key
areas:
theory,
measurement,
resourcing
equity,
discovery
(big
questions
on
agenda).
Eight
recommendations
are
made:
(1)
multilevel
or
systems
theory
frameworks
should
inform
programme
design
implementation;
(2)
methods
be
developed
collaboration
with
participants
service
providers;
(3)
core
set
measures
complemented
by
framework‐specific
measures;
(4)
factors
at
multiple
levels
included
ensure
comprehensive
understanding
experience
value
prescribing;
(5)
funding
models
that
community
sector
organisations
providing
programmes
well
supported;
(6)
stakeholders
could
advocate
equitable
through
dialogue
knowledge
translation;
(7)
focus
barriers
enablers
engagement
marginalised
populations;
(8)

workers’
experiences
prescribing.
Emphasising
health
equity
asset‐based
development,
our
perspective
positions
not
merely
as
response
individual
needs
but
catalyst
broader
societal
transformation.

Abstract
Background
Mental
health
problems
are
an
increasing
challenge
for
primary
healthcare.
It
puts
strain
on
the
healthcare
professionals
with
limited
time
and
resources.
In
several
countries,

qualitative

from
a

grounds,

healthier

human,

resources,
establishing
new
routines.
Conclusions
highlight

programmes

holistic
wellbeing,

Abstract
The
UK's
National
Health
Service
has
introduced
Social
Prescribing
initiatives
to
tackle
loneliness
and
ill‐health,
yet
it
lacks
a
theoretical
foundation
evidence
base
for
Prescribing's
effectiveness.
Recent
research
applies
the
Identity
Approach
(SIAH)
explain
health
benefits,
emphasising
how
social
connection
unlocks
health‐enhancing
psychological
mechanisms.
This
systematic
review
therefore
aims
assess
UK‐based
programmes
designed
boost
alleviate
loneliness,
examining
programme
efficacy
role
of
SIAH
processes
in
outcomes.
Following
PRISMA
guidelines,
narrative
synthesis
articles
published
from
May
5,
2006
(when
prescribing
was
first
NHS),
April
8,
2024,
conducted,
their
quality
assessed
using
CONSORT‐SPI
(2018).

these
programmes,

qualitative
