Abstract Effectiveness research on depression prevention usually compares pre- to post-intervention outcomes across groups, but this aggregation individuals may mask heterogeneity in symptom change trajectories. Hence, study aimed identify subgroups of adolescents with unique trajectories a school-based trial. It was also examined how trajectory membership associated the intervention conditions, depressive symptoms at 12-month follow-up, and baseline predictors. Hundred-ninety adolescent girls ( M age = 13.34; range 11–16 years) subclinical screening 57 days before pre-test) were allocated four conditions: face-to-face, group-based program (OVK), computerized, individual (SPARX), OVK SPARX combined, monitoring control condition. Growth Mixture Modeling used distinct during period using weekly assessments from pre-test post-test. Analyses revealed three full sample: Moderate-Declining (62.1% sample), High-Persistent (31.1%), Deteriorating-Declining (6.8%) Trajectories unrelated conditions had worse follow-up. Several factors (depression severity, age, acceptance, rumination, catastrophizing, self-efficacy) enabled discrimination between is concluded that information about likely enable (school) clinicians predict an individual’s response timely adjust tailor strategies as needed.

The Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) is a widely used instrument to assess cognitive emotion regulation strategies. study aimed test the psychometric properties of Italian short version CERQ (CERQ-IS).Two separate samples 442 young adults (Mage = 21.12; SD 3.69) and 256 adolescents 14.81; 0.59) completed CERQ, Emotional (ERQ) Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale (MPS). A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) was performed evaluate dimensionality CERQ-IS. Internal consistency analysed by calculating model-based composite reliability coefficients. Criterion discriminant validity were gathered through correlations with ERQ MPS, respectively. Factorial invariances tests across gender age computed means multiple-group CFA.CFA confirmed nine-factor structure showing an excellent fit data. Except for rumination which minimally acceptable, all subscales had acceptable good reliability. supported significant between CERQ-IS subscales. Discriminant meaningless MPS facets. Configural, metric scalar invariance established both grouping variables. The brevity this tool its suggest that could be useful screening in clinical research practice adolescence adulthood.

Abstract Emotion regulation as a proximal factor has been linked with depressive symptoms. However, studies have mainly focused on limited number of strategies and mostly cross-sectional in design. This is particularly evident when examining the protective effects adaptive strategies. study aimed to investigate prospective relationship between putatively maladaptive emotion symptoms among adolescents. Additionally, person-oriented approach was applied identify latent classes adolescents based their compared these terms Two waves data from study, which included 1371 youth (mean age: 15.66 years; SD = 0.49 55.1% girls), were analysed. The two points collection spaced approximately half year apart. Depressive measured using Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale, assessed Cognitive Regulation Questionnaire. Seven (acceptance, positive refocusing, reappraisal, putting into perspective, self-blame, rumination, catastrophizing) categorised factors exploratory structural equation modeling. After controlling gender, age, at Time 1, both 1 predicted 2. Three subgroups emerged intensity across waves: stable low, moderate, high symptom groups. use (such more pronounced moderate groups low group. comparable associations suggest need that may mitigate negative impact and/or promote buffer everyday stressors.

Background Adolescents are vulnerable to behavioral and mental health problems, which might be further exacerbated during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study explored how participants with different profiles of stressful life events, coping resources (i.e., self-esteem perceived social support) strategies maladaptive adaptive coping) varied in prevalence mental, behavioral, Internet use problems. Methods Data were collected from a large representative sample Chinese secondary school students Hong Kong ( n = 3,136) September November 2020 (48.1% males; mean age 13.6 years old). Cluster analysis logistic regression models used for analysis. Results The suicidal ideation sleep disturbance was 29.8 55.4%, respectively. Behavioral problems most frequently reported excessive media (53.5%), followed by gaming (43.6%), obesity (34.1%), damaging properties (14.6%), alcohol or substance abuse (5.1%). results cluster yielded three distinctive stress profiles: severe profile (High Risk/Low Protective; 17.0%), moderate (Moderate Risk/Moderate 35.8%), mild (Low Risk/High 47.2%). Participants displayed significantly higher levels (range AOR: 2.08–15.06; all p < 0.001) 1.22–11.22; 0.05) compared cluster. Conclusions Adolescents' may shaped combination events variations as well strategies. Transdiagnostic multimodal interventions on these factors warranted reduce among adolescents.

Abstract Background Adaptive cognitive emotion regulation (CER) strategies toward eating play a very important role in obesity and according to schema therapy, patients with learn that don't respond their emotional stimuli by eating. Thus, this study aimed evaluate the effectiveness of an online video-based group therapy improvement CER body mass index (BMI) women who had undergone bariatric surgery. Methods Forty sleeve gastrectomy were selected randomly divided into two groups control experimental. The experimental received 10 weekly 90-min sessions did not receive any intervention at all. Both completed questionnaire during pre-test, post-test follow-up stages, data analyzed using multivariate analysis covariance (MANCOVA) through SPSS software (version 20). Results Our results indicated demonstrated significantly higher adaptive ( P = 0.0001, F 31.15) lower maladaptive 0.001, 9.42), BMI 23.48), as compared condition, following after stage. Background/Aim: The Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (CERQ) is among the most popular and widely used measures of emotion regulation across age groups. This study aimed to validate CERQ short version (CERQ-short) for use on adolescents in Norwegian population. Method: A sample 3461 (47.3% girls) aged 12–16 years was recruited through UEVO population-based child maltreatment Norway. Factor structure, reliability, measurement invariance criterion validity were investigated. Results: Confirmatory factor analysis supported original nine-factor model including 18 items; however, not a two-factor structure nor higher order solution. Internal consistency adequate all subscales, with alpha levels ranging from .73 .84 between subscales genders. Relationships internalizing problems measured 10-item Hopkins Symptom Checklist health-related quality life according KIDSCREEN-10 criterion-related CERQ-short. Conclusions: Results suggest that CERQ-short can be measure cognitive strategies adolescent validation Norway could significantly improve mental health care by facilitating better diagnosis, treatment planning, evaluation, as well informing public policy cross-cultural research.

We report five meta-analyses that each examined the relationships between two within-strategy emotion regulation tactics and symptoms of depression anxiety in adolescents. The were emotional situational acceptance, behavioral cognitive distraction, non-judging non-reactive mindfulness, problem solving, positive relativizing reappraisal. main question our endeavor was whether magnitudes effect sizes differ sibling albeit being subtypes same strategy. analyzed a total 91 articles (92 studies) with 343 found differences size across all tactic siblings. Post-hoc analyses revealed, however, many depend on particular questionnaire involved. Overall, results imply potential clinical importance for context-dependent selection above beyond strategies, need general flexibility. Experimental longitudinal studies should be conducted future to provide more encompassing causally grounded perspective these links. Further also investigate other tactics, include symptoms, adult populations. It is furthermore great develop questionnaires specifically consider ER future.
