Autistic Traits as Predictors of Increased Obsessive–Compulsive Disorder Severity: The Role of Inflexibility and Communication Impairment

Due
to
similar
manifestations,
some
authors
have
proposed
a
potential
correlation
between
autism
spectrum
disorder
(ASD)
and
obsessive–compulsive
(OCD).
This
link
has
long
been
recognized
debated,
with
arguing
that
these
disorders
frequently
occur
comorbid
but
distinct
while
others
believe
they
are
part
of
the
same
spectrum.
The
aim
our
study
was
explore
prevalence
correlates
autistic
traits
in
55
OCD
patients
matched
controls
assess
possible
dimensions
predictive
higher
symptoms.

participants

Abstract
Purpose
Orthorexia
Nervosa
(ON)
exhibits
specific
features
that
may
overlap
with
Obsessive-Compulsive
Disorder
(OCD),
Perfectionism
Striving
(PS),
and
Concern
(PC).
While
previous
literature
has
shown
predictiveness
in
different
characteristics
of
ON,
this
study
aimed
to
determine
if
PS,
PC
OCD
symptoms
could
predict
ON
dimensions
at-risk
populations
using
Bayesian
models.
Method
The
enrolled
622
individuals
from
three
populations:
people
who
were
following
treatment
for
an
Eating
(Patients),
a
diet
(Dieters)
University
students
degree
medicine
or
nursing
(Students).
Results
Using
probabilistic
methods
considering
group
factors,
the
model
was
enhanced
highlighting
characterised
Patients,
Dieters,
Students.
OC
features,
confirmed
each
group,
patterns
observed
groups.
Regarding
problems
related
predictors
higher
followed
by
Dieters
Posterior
Predictive
Distribution
(PPD)
showed
almost
50%
Patients
incur
ON-related
problems.
In
knowledge,
are
very
similar.
When
feelings
considered,
interactions.
Conclusion
Clinicians
should
consider
one
two
patients
suffering
EDs
might
develop

Introduction
Obsessive-compulsive

parenting

in
