Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in young adults worldwide. Given vulnerability this population, aim our retrospective cohort study was to examine demographic and clinical profile 193 adult emergency ward patients at Clinic for Emergency Clinical Toxicology National Poison Control Centre (NPCC), Military Medical Academy (MMA) Belgrade, Serbia who attempted suicide by poisoning 2020-2023. More than half suffered from a mental disorder, mainly involved marketed prescription drugs (most often benzodiazepines). Women more had history previous attempts, while men ensuing complications were older. Current disorders current psychopharmacotherapy positively correlated with number attempts drugs. The also self-harm. Our results suggest that experience pandemic has highlighted need strengthen healthcare. Developing resilience people, establishing help centres, improving public awareness important issue could reduce incidence population.
